So I was solving my Risa's diarrhea, looking for poops in the garden, cooking him rice and chicken, giving him pills twice a day. I was very worried, he's too young for 5-days-long runs. I was stressed, couldn't even concentrate at work. And then came my boyfriend, who's got his German shepherd living at his parents' house. Rina, the shepherd, had a gastric dilatation - volvulus. She probably had her stomach twisted from 9 pm till morning, it's a miracle that she survived and got a surgery at 9 am. In the afternoon my boyfriend's mum called, Rina was bleeding from the surgical wound. They took her to the vet again and I was waiting at home. At 10pm my boyfriend came and I could tell from the look on his face, that she didn't survive. He told me, that Rina passed away half an hour after coming home from the vet. She just rested her hed on the ground and closed her eyes, like if she was falling asleep.
This came all of a sudden, it happened to a dog which was never active after feeding, always given solids with water. Now I'm super-worried about my corgi's feeding. I changed his schedule today, so there's no activity 1 hour before and 2 hours after feeding, no jumping or rolling. I'll never forget what happened to Rina. Another nightmare for me.
All I wanted to say is: Enjoy EVERY day with your dog. You never know if it isn't the last one.
