I've had Izzie for a little more than two weeks now. I've failed to really blog about my experiences since we've been so busy with taking care of her and then Lily got really sick with some diarrhea so I was running back and forth between home and vet appointments. Glad to say Lily is back to her easy going self and Izzie is well, a perky little ball of energy! Unfortunately for my mum, Izzie seems to only listen to me. When I take Izzie out to poop and piddle she listens and will do as told. If my mum tries, she'll sit there and look at her (unless Lily goes out with her, Izzie will most of the time get the right idea and take care of business.) This morning after breakfast, mum took her out by herself (usually the food will push her system around and out come poo :-p) and Izzie just sat there. I was in the kitchen eating breakfast and my mother gave up and brought Izzie inside. As my mother is telling me this. Izzie trots in from the hall (where we keep news paper, we are slowing moving it from the kitchen to the outdoors to train her), sits by my side and starts barking non-stop. My mother says to me, "I bet she just pooped in the hall, I'll go check," and Izzie stopped barking. Sure enough, she pooped and peed on the paper. I wonder if this is going to be a habit of hers. "Hey you guys, I just pooped! Aren't you proud??"
Another problem we're having with her is that she seems to think carpet is grass. She's been excellent in paper training and going outside, except if we lack in blocking the family room doorways. She'll jump in there and within two seconds she'll be squatting to pee. The carpet is pretty long in there (brand new and VERY nice) and I think she's confusing the carpet with the long grass we have outside. Le sigh! I am not sure how we're going to break her from the habit. Every time I catch her we yell "NOOOOOOOO!" and pick her up mid-squat to potty outside. But, she just doesn't seem to get it. "But mommy, I'm going on the grass like you said!"
