Today the baby Jackson, who I am completely obsessed with at this point, had his 12 week check up. My fantastic vet said he is doing simply amazing.
He had *another* wormer today and his second set of shots (DA2LPP). Our doc said he didn't event cry when he got his shot! What a good pup.
Everything is going so well with him I'm kind of in disbelief. If I spend a lot of the day/night out, I will let him sleep in my bed with me for a little while. I eventually want him to, but I still want him to be able to go in his crate. Right now he's even napping in it! Sometimes at night I even leave his crate door open so he can use the restroom, drink his water, etc, and he's been doing so good with that. I only try to use that as a "reward" because I do want to keep good habits while he is young.
He's completely pad trained at this point and has been for several weeks. I changed the kind of pad I'm using to Petco's own brand, which are NOT very absorbent... the spot is still wet for at least a whole day. So I think that might be a little beneficial since some of you do not prefer pads because they don't leave the wetness.
I haven't seen many accidents in the house. I've cut the number of pads from three to two, and it only took him a day or so to realize that he wasn't supposed to potty in the kitchen anymore.
Biting has basically stopped, and only happens when he's feisty, which I can better recognize now.
He hasn't been trying to jump too much, but still climbs in the coffee table on occasion.
"NO" is working wonders and pup understands words now. Hungry, eat, no, down, and Jackson are about all he's got right now. There was just a light bulb that went off in his brain and he magically started understanding. I love it.
I only really have two concerns.
One, is that he weighed in at a MASSIVE (j/k) 6.2 pounds. He's 12 weeks! My vet was not alarmed by the weight, and she said his figure is quite ideal. I have attached a few pictures of his shape, and he's got a good, clear waist line and his ribs are visible, but not jutting out. I feel like he's gotten so much bigger, but at 8.5 weeks he was 5.92 pounds. The vet said this probably had something to do with the fact that he still had some wormies in his belly, which was HUGE. So we talked about feeding more, and I'm going to feed 1/3 cup 3 times until he is 16 weeks and I'll move it to two feedings and adjust the amount depending on his weight.
I read a lot about pups gaining a pound a week so I am kind of in awe of his weight... maybe he's a late bloomer? Haha.
Pup is completely food obsessed and he's been getting treats at his classes and at the vet and he is sooo greedy. I don't want an overweight doggie, but I very much know all of that has to do with ME and I don't want him to be underweight either. :-/

The second concern is flea medicine, which I'm going to research through this fabulous discussion board and form my opinion on and get him started soon. He's been itching a lot, but my nice vet combed him and only found one flea and no eggs, so she thinks he might just be really sensitive though he is not infested with fleas.
Anyway, thanks for reading!
