He's a cutie, and only 2 weeks away is not long at all!

I'm no expert, but I don't believe a food bowl is necessary for the crate. It may be helpful in the beginning stages of crate training to place the food there to show the puppy that the crate is a positive thing, but you probably don't want him eating or drinking while he is alone in the crate. That may just lead to accidents and extra troubles with potty training.

He is very handsome! The crate sounds great I have a big one so when my full grown ones need crating they can move around...what a deal you got! I would definitely crate train him no matter where you let him sleep later...All my dogs still like their space to go for whatever reasons. One fun thing we did at night with ours when they were pups was to let them spend 5-10 min. on the bed(could be on the floor) with us but we had cheerios and this is how Wynn learned several tricks and it was that special time before he went in his crate. To this day Wynn jumps on our bed to say goodnight and again does this in the am but he is very happy to be in his crate or bed that is too small! It's so fun to hear all these puppy stories!
