Buddy & Wynstan's Blog (33)

We are still around

I know it has been forever since I have posted on here. Wynstan and I have been extremely busy traveling throughout the US. He has been on several trips with my to Miami, New Orleans, Savannah GA, and Dallas. I am even looking at moving to the Twin Cities or Seattle area in a few years.

Unfortunately, Wynstan will not be able to travel with me on some of my longer trips because I will be on my new motorcycle. A friend and I will be taking time off work and traveling down…

Long Overdue Update

Wynstan and I are doing great. He is pretty big now, and we have a great time just hanging around. He loves to play with his soccer ball more than anything.

We went on a road trip to Miami to go see an uncle before he passed away. His presence helped a lot, and he seemed to cheer up my really sick relative. He never knew that dogs could have such a personality. He really did love being the center of attention on the trip. I was also surprised how well he did on the long trip,…

Wynstan's Birthday

Wynstan had his first birthday weekend, and it was great aside from a few outside problems.

I figured we should have a good weekend, and it was cool enough to camp.
He enjoyed his fist camping trip and even went for a swim in the lake.

I only wish I had a picture of the weekend, but I didn't bring electronics with me.

Wynstan's Strange List of Fears

Wynstan has been developing a strange list as of lately. We go out and then all of a sudden he starts growling at odd things.

Here is a short list

Certain alien languages from Star Wars, especially Huttese and Rodian

Remote Controls

A bowl of peppermints

Tractors

Sheriff Deputy patrol cars, he doesn't growl at local PD patrol cars or state trooper ones.

a certain old feather duster that has real… Continue

Wynstan tries to be nice

I took Wynstan over to a friend's house and everyone was absolutely in love with him. He took all of the pictures with a gallant stride.

Then there is this one, it seems that he was just trying to force a smile with this lady. It kind of reminds me of the fake smile that Mr. Fox had in Wes Anderson's Fantastic Mr Fox.

It's Been Awhile

It has been a long time since I have blogged or really been on this website

Wynstan has been doing great. He has traveled quite a bit. He rode with me down to Miami to see my grandfather for his birthday, but while I was there, I got a call saying my aunt wasn't doing so good. We then rode to New Orleans. Wynstan only met my aunt twice, but he comforted her until her final hours. After her death, he immediately tried to cheer up all four of her children and her husband. He was a real… Continue

New Addition

A friend of the family had some German Shepherd puppies and they gave one to my mother.

Her name is Ripley Van Winkle, I named her because I didn't want the pup to suffer through my mother's horrible dog names. It is a reference to the Hellsing anime.

She is already almost as big as Wynstan at 8 weeks, and I am extremely glad they get along together extremely well. Of course he barked at her for quite some time, but soon realize she would want to play. They go nonstop… Continue

Big Snip

Wynstan got neutered this week and all went well. Extremely well in fact. He had nearly no recovery time and did not want to rest for a little while. Unfortunately my parents were the ones to take him in because I was on vacation in Savannah, GA and could not bring him with me (due to hotel restrictions, I did not make the reservation).

He was extremely glad to see me when I got home. I was only gone for four days. All he wants to do now is play fetch. It seems that I can not throw… Continue

Wynstan and Red Bull

No, he didn't drink any.

Next year, we are going to enter the Red Bull Flugtag. I jokingly mentioned to a few friends that we should enter, and they ran with it. We are starting the brainstorming part to see what whacky flyers we can come up with. Then start building.

Wynstan is going to be our mascot, we are going to get him some old timey aviator goggles and a scarf.

And if you have never heard of the Flugtag, here this year's ad:…

Wynstan and My Depression

Let me first off start by saying that I have been battling depressing for nearly ten years. No medicine has helped; in fact, it does the exact opposite for me and makes it worse. Therapy only put a dent in the situation and never helps for long.

That is until I got my puppy. He really does know when I have my bad days, and when those occur, he tries his best to cheer me up. It never fails to work. He does the goofiest things from time to time and never ceases to amaze me. I am really… Continue

Corgi Service Dog!

My mother was in the hospital for surgery yesterday. My father was just walking around when he spotted a lady that had a corgi as a service dog. Immediately recognizing the breed, he approached (my parents are in love with Wynstan.) He started conversing with the owner and praised how good Wynstan is and how he loves the breed.

The lady then said, "Corgis are only puppies for about three months, then they train their owners for the rest of their lives."

That statement will… Continue

Today is just a day of great news

The writer of the playwright pretty much told me that Wynstan and I will be getting the part. His play is about various American artists sitting as a discussion panel debating on how badly Neo-American art is becoming. It is a pretty funny one act play. I will be Norman Rockwell and the writer/director said that Wynstan's presence asserts Rockwell's attention to the American family and the constant theme of dogs in his body of works/

I also received some equally excellent news. It… Continue

Wish us luck

The university I am attending is featuring some original one act plays from students who are earning their Master of Fine Arts, and one of the plays is looking for a wild puppy. Wynstan and I will be going that way to audition for the part. Basically, he will just have to FRAP, which shouldn't hard for him to do around new people.

We go in for auditions at 5 pm and will not know if we got the part until Monday or Tuesday

Its a girl!

Wynstan pooped out the baby just fine. The plastic baby didn't seem to do well through the amazing food race, but I am glad I don't have to worry about it anymore.

I am proud of him, he was in the house alone Thursday night while I was at work for four hours and not one accident. He is also responding to the "come" command very well and almost comes to me every time I saw it. He is still having a hard time with "lay down" and "shake"

Wynstan is getting in the spirit of Mardi Gras

My mother came home with a King Cake from New Orleans. They are the cakes that have the little baby in it and you have to hope you don't get it.

Well, my father found the baby in his piece and accidentally dropped it. Of course, Wynstan scarfed up that little baby.

Should I take him to the vet or wait to see if it passes?

Quick Update

There will be no need to go to court over the incident, because the neighbor is going to jail. I rather not air out other people's dirty laundry, but I am glad this is behind us.

Wynstan has had no accidents in 3 weeks. I am so proud of him. He got play with my brother's German Shepherd today, and they did great as always. I am sure Wynstan thinks he is three times bigger than her.

I actually have some excellent news and things are actually going my way for the first time… Continue

May be going to court because of Wynstan. (edit)

This morning I was playing with him out in the backyard. I threw his frisbee and he ran off to catch it. When he was returning it, out of the corner of my eye, the neighbor's pitbull had climbed the fence and was charging towards him, Wynstan was instantly in flee mode. I screamed at the both of them, the other dog didn't even pay me any attention. I did the only thing I could do to save him; I pulled out my conceal carry hand gun and put the dog down. In a matter of minutes the police arrived… Continue

Corgis are really nature's anti-depressants

It has been a really rough day, and Wynstan has just been right me since I got home. He knows something is wrong and is not acting like the normal fur-ball of energy that he is. I really could not have been happier with another other dog.

Thinking of getting a new addition

I will be moving out of my parent's house very soon in to a rental, depending on the job I am applying for. If all goes well, I was thinking of getting a cat to join the family (Maine Coon or Siberian). Now, I don't plan on getting the kitten until Wynstan is at least 8-12 months.

Is there anything I should do help Wynstan get along with the possible new addition? He travels with me to friends' houses that have cats and gets along with them well, I think he thinks they are just funny… Continue

Wynstan and Jerky

So my mom wanted to watch Wynstan for a bit, so I ran errands that needed to be done. So when I get back, Wynstan is fast asleep next to an empty bag of jerky that he tore into. This jerky is extra chewy (Prasek's, from Texas) and I wonder how he even got to it; it was on the counter and completely sealed. Craft little bugger not sharing good beef jerky.

Should I be worried about what he ate? Is there anything bad in jerky?
