Let me first off start by saying that I have been battling depressing for nearly ten years. No medicine has helped; in fact, it does the exact opposite for me and makes it worse. Therapy only put a dent in the situation and never helps for long.

That is until I got my puppy. He really does know when I have my bad days, and when those occur, he tries his best to cheer me up. It never fails to work. He does the goofiest things from time to time and never ceases to amaze me. I am really proud of him. So much so, that my parents brag about him. My father, who was a K9 officer, praises me on how well we work together.

The unconditional love that only a pet can bring is just therapy in itself. It is nice to know that he wants to be around me no matter how bad I am feeling or what ever else is going on.

Wynstan is truly a blessing I desperately needed in my life.

This is why I just love this breed. Thank you for sharing your story with us. My parents brag about Spartan also, and I've never seen them so close to a dog, even when they did have one. They accually let him in there house when we come over.

I'll never forget the night when I was sitting on the family room couch crying like a baby, when Lily came up to me and just sat next to me with her understanding eyes and cuddled up next to me. Our dogs just seem to have this innate ability to recognize our feelings and have a way of making us feel better!

You may find this article an interesting read. It talks about the hormonal triggers our dogs create within us that helps calm us makes us feel better. In many studies, they say dogs will lower cholesterol, depression, and calm patients. They are Gods miracles and that is why dog spelled backwards spells GOD!

That is so wonderful! I've often wondered how there could be so much love and such a big heart in such a little body! Went over and looked at your pics, just love the one with the tongue just barely poking out, He has the kindest eyes and handsome little guy as well. You are both lucky to have each other.

Nuthin' beats Fur Therapy.
Often, I awake in the wee hours and can't get back to sleep, so I grab Al from the foot of the bed and drag him closer -- usually without even waking him up -- and he'll snooze with his head in the crook of my elbow, or the palm of my hand, sometimes with his snout under my chin. A snoozing, live mink coat. That sort of peace is contagious. Even when I re-awake at dawn to find the subprime end of the dog in my face.
And the best kind of Fur Therapy is simply PLAY. Yeah, I've tried Wellbutrin (Buproprion), but nothing beats a tennis ball and a coupla snouts, or better yet, a soccer ball. Play cures, and it is contagious.
It doesn't hurt to be loved. We need to have people in our lives to be important for. The enthusiasm that greets me when I come home from work cannot be faked. Something always in the back of my mind is: what would it mean for the dogs if I got hit by a meteorite? They would take a big hit! Who'd take them hiking, walking around the lake, playing soccer at the park, or just walking to the coffee shop? Gosh: I'm a big shot.
Being loved by a dog might be a humble ambition in life. Maybe not. You can tell a lot about people by how they treat their animals, and maybe Mr. Peter can find out all he needs to know about us simply by watching our animals as we approach the bridge.
