My mother was in the hospital for surgery yesterday. My father was just walking around when he spotted a lady that had a corgi as a service dog. Immediately recognizing the breed, he approached (my parents are in love with Wynstan.) He started conversing with the owner and praised how good Wynstan is and how he loves the breed.

The lady then said, "Corgis are only puppies for about three months, then they train their owners for the rest of their lives."

That statement will stick with me as long as I own a corgi.

They are smart, pushy dogs with just the right balance of thinking for themselves and still wanting to please. I love that they are independent but not aloof. I would think they would make a great service dog, for the right person. Of course those short little legs limit their roles (people with certain physical limitations simply need a taller dog) but they love to have a job to do and learn subtle commands very quickly.

I love them to pieces.

It's so true. My partner Corgi Mom has our newest pup, Harmony, as her service dog. Harmony goes with her everywhere, even to work.

It is probably a true statement!

Well, I think that's true for many corgi owners but with the right people...corgis "think" they're training the people but they are also being trained...there are things I let my dogs get away with and then there's other things that are not acceptable and from the moment they walk in my door they start their training! Gotta love these smart little creatures!
