So I tried to order a crate from petco through amazon, but I received an email that said it was canceled. My credit card was not billed.

Guess what I received today? That's right. A free crate. But me being myself, I couldn't accept the generous offer through such a mistake. I called Amazon and was patched through to a CS representative rather quickly. I told the nice lady the predicament, and she said I should keep it since it was free. After a bit of talking she finally gave me the number to contact Petco.

So I called Petco, the CS representative was confused by what was going on. Apparently she thought I was stupid because I refused to take the crate since I did not pay for it. She actually called me stupid for not taking it! So appalling. Finally she took my address and email address and said that FedEx will be picking it up one day.

It is funny that you get called stupid for doing the right thing, and you just get in trouble for doing the wrong thing

I agree that you did the right thing! Today there are so many people that would take advantage of this situation...I was raised with parents that also taught me it's much better to tell the truth...but if you lie you'll be in much deeper trouble!

You did the right thing! I once went back into a store to explain they had under-charged me on a sale item and met a similar fate. I also got paid once for 3 vacation days I did not have coming to me when I left a job. I called them to tell them, and they told me the paperwork to fix the problem was too much bother and to keep it! I donated half to charity.

Being honest is the right way to be, even if sometimes we have to argue a little to have someone believe us.

You sound like me! I was raised by a Mom that would drive all the way back to the store if she discovered she had something she was not charged for. We learned to always tell the truth! I would not have kept the crate either. Hopefully we are not the only ones....

Gwynn sez yer stoopid fer not taking the free crate.
"Always accept free treats. ALWAYS," she sez. "Nuthing in life is free, but people are sthtoopid, they screw up," she sez. Always take free treats. It makes them feel good."
"CRATE, Gwynnie. She's talking about a crate, not a treat."
"Great! A treat? For ME?!"
