Lyla and I have been training for Rally for about 2 months now. This weekend is our first show. Today was our first run (I didn't enter yesterday, as I wanted one day to walk her around and get her used to the environment). I was so nervous and she was just loving being there! We had a couple signs we'd never seen before, so that was scary, but still doable.

Well, the second we walked into the ring, she realized there were lots and lots of dog smells on the ground. OH BOY! I had the hardest time keeping her attention. Luckily, Rally is not Obedience and so I was a name-calling, hand-clapping, leg-patting fool! Then half way through the course she realized there was a judge following us and literally tried to take off and go greet her. Oops!

And yet, with all that, not only did we get a Qualifying score.... we got 3rd place!!!!!!

Congratulations to both of you! I hope that you had a fabulous "party" at the conclusion so that Lyla knows she's the best! Don't you simply love training with your corgi?!?! Linus and I are now doing flyball, Tasha and I have done herding and agility, Bear and I just love one another. Keep us posted as you continue doing rally! If you go into the early English corgi dog literature and documentation, you will see many of the early, extraordinary rally corgis (Wey kennels comes to mind) and how smart our farmdog corgis are. All the best from Williamsburg, VA: Nancy, Bear, Tasha and Heronsway Land of the Hokies, "Linus".

Way to GO! LaVerne did the same thing at her first trial last month. She really really wanted to go visit with the judge...lol. I understand how nervous you must have been. I was so nervous it took me about a week to recover and question if Im cut out for the trials...lol. But LaVerne loves it and I think its good for us both. Keep up the great work. Im looking forward to hearing about your next trial!

Congratulations! I might eventually try rally with one of mine. I think Jack would be great at tracking, actually, but I'm not sure I want to encourage the behavior even more!! lol

I'm glad to hear Lyla did so well. Good for the two of you.

Grats!! We have the same issue with Ashton. He looks more like a tracking dog than obedience. LOL It's wonderful that you guys Q'd and placed! Keep up the good work! <3
