We noticed a few days ago that KayCee's eye was a little runny, but since she has allergies, we thought nothing of it...

Until today...

We took her and Puck out to Mr. Oregano's brother's farm for the day, and it was a bit warm. We noticed a fairly big and scary thing about her face. The whole right side of her face was not working. As she panted out in the heat, the left side of her muzzle pulled back into that typical corgi smile, but the right side did not. We then looked at other things, and noticed she was not blinking that eye, and her right ear, while erect, just flopped back and forth when she ran.

Now, her right eye still moved, dilates, and she tries to blink it, but simply can't. She is not having any other problems. I just don't know what to do. I've done some research and found that it's fairly common in Pems for this to just happen for no reason, and we are going to the vet tomorrow... I'm just worried about my old girl.

Anyone have experience with this? I am preparing myself for the worst case scenario. :(

My neighbor's cocker has that. She is an older dog and the vet said it was a minor stroke. That was two years ago and she is still going pretty strong for an old girl.

I was wonder the same as Beth -- if Corgis can get that human syndrome. Don't know, either. Or I wonder if it could be some crazy bug or spider bite? Bertie's left face swelled up like mad when he just was stung by a bee, and there certainly are some wild things out there. Please keep us posted, and we wish you all a quick recovery!

Poor Kaycee. Hope she'll be OK soon. Let us know what the vet thinks.

I have nothing to offer.

Could it be something similar to Bells Palsy in humans? If so, it may resolve. The biggest concern will be protecting that eye. If she can't blink it, she will probably need some sort of covering on it, and drops. But no, I've heard of nothing of the sort in dogs. Of course, I don't have much experience in all the ills that can affect our little furry friends.

I haven't heard of anything like this either. Now I'm a bit uneasy about what more to worry about. :( I really hope Kaycee will be okay; keep us all updated!
