At long last we are moved into our first house! It's not finished, we still have painting left to do and work on the back yard but we had enough done to move in so we spent our first night there last night.

Finnigan hadn't been there yet and while we were packing up our things from my father-in-law's house where we had been staying a little over a month, you could tell he knew something was up. I drove him to the house and before we went inside I took him for a walk. There's a park close by so we walked and walked to try to burn off some of that energy but with all the rabbits darting through the park, he wasn't about to calm down.

We finally went back to the house and I walked him in on the leash and did a walk through with him then let him off. He went all around the house several time (except the areas we blocked off where we're still working) then came to lay at my feet. The rest of the night he was my shadow and even at bed time he laid right next to my side of the bed. Poor guy, I;m sure it'll take him a while to settle in.

The biggest difference is the hard wood floors. He's used to carpeting and so are we for that matter. His little toe nails are so loud as he trots around the house! I just hope he doesn't start running and sliding across the floor. We'll have to get some area rugs more beds too so he's not laying on the hard floor all the time. With his hip problems I don't think that would be good for him.

After the painting is done we'll get the back yard set up. It needs new rocks and we'll add some grass and make sure there are no poisonous plants in the yard. The house already had a doggy door which is great, now he just needs to learn to use it.

It's an exciting move and I'm sure we'll all adjust and he'll love his new home. Maybe now he could even have a little sister. :)

Congratulations! How exciting! We camp so my dogs are used to different places all the time. They are happy as long as we are there. Finn will get used to it in no time.

Just keep being confident around him, spend some time doing simple training and giving lots of walks and he'll come around soon. We have hardwood, with area rugs in a couple rooms. An air filter or white noise machine helps at night to sleep. It's so exciting! Congrats on your new home and may you build many happy memories there.

We took an old comforter that we no longer used and folded it in half on the floor for Frosty. It covers like half our bedroom floor. No noise for us to hear, and he's happy with a comfy blankie bed. Everyone wins!! Since none of our company ever goes in the bedroom, it doesn't really matter that there's a dog fur pokemon comforter on the floor lol!! Frosty gets mad he can't get up on our bed too. It probably wouldn't be so bad if the cats didn't perch on top of the bed and laugh down at him, then curl against us and purr loudly. lol!

Ha ha, yeah, the nail clacking is already dricing me a little nuts after only one night. I got up in the middle of the night to lay a towel by the bed and made him get on it because he was dreaming and moving his feet and I would hear his nails tapping the wood. :)

Finn had gotten used to sleeping in our bed while we were staying with my father in law. Now with our own bed he can't jump onto to because it's too high. He's not very happy about that but with all the shedding (especially right now) I'd rather he not be on the bed. I'm tired of sleeping on a fur mattress with fur sheets!

Congratulations!!! We just moved into our new house in January, so I totally understand what a crazy exciting frustrating time you are having. Our new house has hardwood (and laminate) floors as well. Frosty doesn't seem to have any trouble at all with sliding around on the floor, but I'm warning you now, the nail clacking on the floor at night can start to drive you crazy! Good luck with your move, I am sure Finnigan will love the new house and a new sister!!
