I apologize that I have not posted more often. Two little guys can keep an old man running! We're finally sleeping all night. We were getting up about 1 a.m. and 3 a.m. and 5 a.m. Now we're getting up about 6-6:30 a.m. At first they were getting used to their new home. Then we went to the vet and they got worm medicine, which contributed to the frequent cries to get out of the crate in the middle of the night. But they didn't mess their beds. Unbelievable!
It's amazing to see their individual personalities emerging. They seem to share the "top dog" position, although it varies from one day to the next. Our neighbor loaned us a large plastic play pen, which keeps them in one spot while we do yard work that requires our full attention. But they get out often and get to roam. As soon as they're too big to get through the fence, we won't need the pen at all.
I found an absolutely wonderful item for getting their attention and for use with discipline when necessary. It's cheap, is totally harmless, and works like a charm. Dr. Jon's newsletter advertised something similar for a lot more money. It's simply a can of air!! They were charging over $9 a can. You can get the same thing at Walmart or an office store--the cans of air you use to clean computers and keyboards. I don't even have to shoot the air toward them. When they aren't listening, or are getting too "toothy" at wrestling with each other, I just give the can a shot, and they jump and immediately stop what they're doing.
I promise to write more about their activities and post pictures by the end of the week. They are growing so fast! I am in the process of writing a series of children's books called The Adventures of Huey and Taffy.
