Here's Gromit's first piece of backyard agility equipment, a new pause table. I built it out of some lumber salvaged from another project. A bit of sawing, some sanding, a couple of dozen deck screws, a bit of blue "parking lot zone paint" with some sand in it to make it non-skid and we're good to go. The REAL carpenters and woodworkers reading this are requested to please muffle their laughter.
The Table height is a regulation 8" high or thereabouts depending on what your idea of regulation is. By the time it settles into the grass (dead winter grass currently) the table is probably closer to 7" off the ground so there is minimal jumping involved for Gromit at this point.
The yellow rope is so the fair and lovely Debbie can move the table around without having to lift it. Deb has arthritis in her hands and wrists and lifting is not one of her strong points, in fact Gromit is close to being too big now for her to pick up.
Gromit hopped right up on the table after a quick sniff so now the tricky part will be getting him to do it on command, do a proper down-stay for 5 seconds or whatever, and then leave smartly in the intended direction. Piece 'o cake, I'm sure. Time for Debbie to get to work!
