I was discussing with my brother how I ought to get a munchkin cat when I get my own place so that all the animals in my house are shorty shorts:

Anyways, who else thinks it would be amazing to have munchkin cats with their corgis :P

I just saw two up for adoption at the local Petsmart!! So teeny! I never thought I would ever see one in person! One I thought was 6 weeks (being generous here) was actually 10 weeks old. The other looked 4 months and was 2 years old!! Super small. Dinky legs, petite faces.

If one ever goes through my rescue group I'll snag it before anyone else can adopt, haha

Super cute! But there r some concerns as with any animal. Make sure they r excersized well and give them low fat food. And must give them joint suplments as they have the short legs. My aunt had 3 of them=) of course its a given since we all own corgis :P

I've been telling my mom this for years! lol. I'm dying to have a munchkin cat. I'd only get one if I could get it from the SPCA or something though. Getting a cat from a breeder just seems wrong somehow.

They can do things about the same way; they just don't jump as high. I would love to have one as well, but my hubby is allergic.

Haha, I wanted one for the exact same reason!

I WANT ONE!!

Christy, remember, Corgi's are the same way. The reason they have such short legs is because they have a "deformation" that causes their dwarfism, and we all know these dogs, if bred to be sound in structure and mind, can do their jobs, be it on a farm or on a couch, for many, many years. I don't know anything about these cats, but I would imagine this breed of cat was developed much the same way.

It was a genetic mutation that they started selecting for while breeding. From what I've read they do just as fine as normal cats and that the dwarfism of their legs is quite similar to short legged dogs like dachshunds and corgis, but because of their kitty spine they don't have back problems as often. But yeah, in reality I don't think I'd ever buy a cat from a breeder, there's too many of them that need to be rescued. But the idea of having them running around with the corgis is just too cute ;)
