Wynstan is really good except for one thing, he bites the crap out of jeans and hands. I know he is just a puppy, and I have only had him for four days, but I am worried that it will only get worse. I just want to take care of it so it won't become a problem when he is older.

any suggestions?

My all time favorite to do for this is to say "owe" or "Ah-ah"(not happy voice but low growly voice) and turn away...I have had this work for all of mine and for the hands....I would make sure you can exchange it for a chew toy such as a kong with a little peanut butter in this way you are teaching him the "correct" choice of things he can chew on!

Sparty was like that as a puppy. We called him Jaws. For the pant legs we just stopped and firmly said No. If he persisted he got placed in the kitchen for a time out. He stopped pretty quick. As for the biting it took a little longer but we squealed a very high pitched dramatic yelp every time the teeth came out. Again if he persisted the play stopped. We were very successful with that method and Sparty grew up to be very safe for everyone but the vet (that is another story) . Now with Buffy and Izzy we never had a problem. Giving him lots of toys to chew on helps especially for the teething.

Work on it- don't expect him to grow out of it. For a horror story my one year old still bites and its a lot harder to train it out of him now then at Wynstan's age. There a few discussionson here with great suggestions.

I think if you do a search on this site, there's been a few discussions about this exact thing

Nellie, our older puppy was the same way. She has really cooled it (She is now 6 mo.). But it took a long time and a lot of time outs and saying no for her to get it. Puppy obiedience and meeting new people helped to her get less excited. She still sometimes mouths people when they come over although now it is turning into excessive licked instead. The pant leg thing is gone though. She did that to me all the time when she was younger. Our other puppy Howie isn't having the problem at all. Nellie is just more of an excitable girl I guess. Don't lose hope! It gets better!
