New to Corgis. Love them already.

I just got my first Corgi, Jesse. She is 4 years old. I got her from someone who couldn't keep her anymore. She is very calm and very cuddly, and VERY afraid of my stairs. lol. She also was mainly an outdoor dog, so we need to work on some house training. I know she'll catch on quick, she's a corgi after all. ;) However, first she is taking a trip to the vet tomorrow to be spayed. I have no intent on breeding her and I am very passionate about spaying and neutering. Also, I think she has some ear problems. She's rubbing at her ears a LOT. Definitely going to have the vet check that out tomorrow too. I can't describe what it looks like inside because the stinker won't let me look at them. She doesn't have a lot of energy, but she could just be calm because she's in a new environment. Here's a couple of photos. The first one is a cuddly nap after bath time. And the second is her on the porch!

I'm so glad she's home, safe and sound!

For those wondering. All is good. She's just sleepy. And she peed all over the carpet, but I can't blame her cuz she's tired, in pain, and doesn't know how to ask how to go out.

The vet just called and said they are about to start the spaying. I went ahead and told them to clean her teeth too because I noticed they were bad and he said the tartar is in the gumline. It's much cheeper and makes much more sense to do that now. He said the ears look really irritated and dirty, but it doesn't look like an infection, so he's going to clean them out really well and send me home with some cleaner. Woo. Not looking forward to this vet bill! But she'll be good to go and hopefully healthy and happy (Well maybe not too happy with me for a few days) :D

Congratulations! I love her cute corgi smile. :-) As far as the ears thing goes, just keep working on massaging her head and then her ears so she becomes comfortable with it. Might take a few weeks for her to become more comfortable but it works. You'll want to do the same with her paws in case you ever have to inspect them or trim her nails.

Congratulations! Enjoy your Corgi!!! PS: it's normal for them to be little stinkers...at least mine are!!
When my corgi's ears itch, I start by rubbing their head and around their ears then try to pull the hair out. (They love it!) (I don't put my finger in very far in the ear, usually use my knuckle) After a while you might be able to sneak at peek!! :)
