I let the dogs out to play when I got home from work today and thought I'd leave them out for the better part of the afternoon to just wrestle and run since it was such a nice day out. About 20 min after I let them out I heard a lot of noise. I went outside to see what was going on and the closer I got to the door, the more I could hear high-pitched crying and squealing. My first thought was "uh-oh!" I thought maybe they had gotten into a fight and one of them was getting hurt or another dog had somehow gotten into the yard and was attacking. As soon as I opened the door I couldn't do anything but laugh. There were my two dogs, crying like someone was killing them, staring at 3 squirrels that were teasing them on the other side of the fence. Silly dogs!!

Oh, you just brought back some precious memories for me from years back with my very first Corgi. She used to sit underneath the pecan tree in the front yard for hours just staring at the squirrels in the tree -- I couldn't get her to come in unless I went out and physically picked her up and carried her inside. However, she was quiet about it. I just knew to go check on her every few minutes --- and, yep, she'd be there looking up. This went on for days, weeks, and months. Until one day I heard a similar noise to what you're describing. I went out to check on her and made it to the porch just in time to see a squirrel literally "chucking" pecans down at her, a couple of which hit her square in the forehead just above the area in between the eyes!

Yeah the squirrels love to torment them! The deer also stand on the other side of the fence and stomp their hooves at the barking corgis at my house. The doberman scares all of them away. Which is probably wise since she has caught 3 bunnies, a squirrel, an opossum (which got away), and 2 moles since she moved in in January! The corgis just want to chase stuff.
