We had three cats when we brought Cici home as a pup. We had an older female and two young males. They all had completely different personalities, but one policy for new things: swat* first ask questions later. Eventually they warmed up to her in their own ways.

Frankie (the 8 year old female) continued to bat her paw at Cici. We realized she wanted Cici to hold still, because she wanted to groom her. She treated Cici as if she were her kitten. It was sweet to watch.

Otis (the frisky year old male) also continued to bat at Cici, but for a different reason…to play! He loved to wrestle with Cici. He would hide so he could ambush Cici with a wrestling match. She loved it! They were the best of friends.

Cocoa (A prissy 4 year old male) continued to bat at Cici, as a way of saying back off. Eventually Cici began to understand. She became very gentle with Cocoa. Eventually they became snuggle buddies.

When Cici was a year and a half we ended up loosing both of the boys. They both passed for different reasons…only three months apart.

Cici and Frankie were depressed for quite a while, but they had each other. Over the following year they became much closer. Cici would walk up to Frankie and lay her head down. Frankie would oblige by washing her face and ears.

When we (all) were ready, we adopted another male cat Rufus. Cici and Rue are best buddies and love to run, and wrestle.

Cici is very protective of her “mommy” cat. If Rue hassles Frankie, Cici runs in to break them up. Cici won’t let him bother her .

So now Cici thinks she is a cat. She ignores other dogs. When she meets a new cat, she lays her head down, waiting for a bath. Most cats get confused by this and back away. The poor dear!

Does anyone else have a corgi-cat?

*All of our cats are de-clawed. I don’t like to de-claw cats, but It was required…it’s a long story.

We don’t let the animals play unsupervised. When we are not home, Cici is gated in the kitchen, the cats can come and go as they please. We have never had problems between them…but it gives the kitties the option.

So sorry about your kitty's! I have one cat that thinks he IS a corgi and 2 older cats that want them to "go away" but they do tolerate them. As for the Corgis...Livvy and Sage play regularly with Karma:)

Yup! We have several Catgis, as we like to call them! ;)

it's a sweet story!  Our two cats didn't think much of our new puppies either....I think that they (in their kitty minds) thought of dogs as "big furry things that sleep alot" because we got our two kitties when our dearly departed Truman and Bessie were elderly.  So when we brought home two bundles of licky energy, the cats objected! (solid thumps to the head on a regular basis). Now however, I think the cats have won and the doggies think they are cats:  Hermione licks both their heads comprehensively. My daughter will go to pet our cat Pearl and shout: "Mom.......Pearl's ears are crunchy again!"  (dried dog slobber on persian fur = crunchy)

very touching and i am very sorry that your kitties passed:(

when we brought teddy home we already had the two male cats. at first teddy wasnt sure what they were lol he approached Jango, our orange kitty. he crawled to him and then they sniffed each other. jango got out of his bed and wrapped his body around teddy and began to groom him, it was the cutest thing ever! when he meet yoda our maind coon. he walked right up to him and then layed his head on yodas butt. yoda began to lick his ears. the cats get along great with teddy. jang and teddy have a morning routine where and what time they play and the funny part is jango always starts it! he even chases teddy lol they play just like how dogs do. yoda has made it clear that he dosnt play but he will cuddle.

and like u said when your dog meets a cat he wants to be with them? o yeah, teddy does that all the time:) everyone laughs at it but its so adorable

What a touching story! It's so cute that Cici thinks she's a cat and is submissive to new cats... It gives me a little hope for Johann; maybe he will stop trying to herd the cats one day ;)

Waffle does not think he is a cat, but I do!  He tries to play with the cats as if they were dogs.  But, his favorite toys are cat toys.  His favorite food is cat food.   He likes to lay in your lap like a cat.  I'm pretty sure he is part cat.

That is so sweet!!  We have three dogs (two corgis) and 3 cats.  Seanna and our male like to wrestle and play sometimes....they both sit on their back legs and hit each other with their front paws.  And since their legs are about the same length, it's quite entertaining.

My previous corgi Buffy and an also departed cat, Spud, groomed each other all the time. They would cuddle and Spud would hold Buffy between his paws while he washed her face and ears. Then she would clean up Spud's face and ears and they would eventually settle into a long nap. It was adorable! Of my current crew, while they will share a bed, no one is quite that chummy. It was great fun to see while it lasted so enjoy!
