Peed in the Bedroom Again

This is actually funny. In 3 months of owning this little devil it was THE FIRST time ever I caught him in action.
We have this mirror in the bedroom that has to go on the wall, but we never have time to do it. Shiro was playing with it a couple times, trying to figure out where's that dog. It was funny to watch him looking in the mirror, then trying to look behind it. So last week he peed in front of this mirror twice in one day, and I already blooged about it. I thought part of it must be the mysterious dog that lives there. We limited his access to the bedroom for only when one of us is with him.
Yesterday I was folding laundry on the bed and heard this sound of running water. needless to say he was standing right in front of the damn mirror, peeing. I screamed and clapped my hands and made a huuuuge deal out of it, took him out right away, and praised him, even though I was still frustrated. I hope this will help him to understand that peeing in the house is not OK. Since we've never been able to catch him before he had no idea.

The mirror is hung on the wall now, the pup is taken out more frequently and is only allowed in the bedroom under supervision. Haven't had an accident ever since so far.

Comment by Beth on August 10, 2009 at 9:31pm: I think I figured it out! He's just learning to lift his leg, but he's self-conscious about practicing outside where someone might see him, so he's rehearsing inside in front of the mirror first! :-)

I'll bet he's really good at it by the time he tries it outside!
