A couple months ago I noticed that Teddy had some teeth that weren't good. Six I thought...so after the worst winter in 35 years here I made an appt. for his dental work. WELL...after examining his teeth the vet removed 16 teeth. Many of them due to the roots being exposed.
Last night I could tell Teddy was in pain but did get relief from his pain med in soft food off a spoon. This AM he is doing much better and eating his softened kibble easily.
Teddy is an almost 12 year old Corgi I rescued from a puppy mill 6 years ago but in good health for his age and the sweetest boy in the world.

Glad to hear Teddy is doing a bit better today. His face is just adorable and I love the little tip of the tongue sticking out. He is too cute!
Linda...I can't trim Teddy's nails...I can maybe get 2 if I can keep him on his side long enough...I was embarrassed how long Teddy's nails were.
When I went to pick up 1-2 rescues from the puppy mill I originally put Teddy back BUT couldn't leave him so I came home with 4. He just looked me in the eyes and that sweet face just melted my heart...hubby will never let me forget it. I still melt when he looks at me... I think he knows:)
Teddy is a handsome fellow, so glad he joined your family. All dogs (and cats) deserve a loving home. Max is 3 months shy of 12 and is still going strong despite neck problems. Weather has been so miserable everywhere. Max is a fluffy and he gets groomed every 5-6 weeks to keep him neat and pretty. I want the fluff but not when it's so long it's dragging in the mud. I have put off taking him since his last trip just before Thanksgiving. His coat is so thick that he is still damp when I pick him up and with the bitter cold we've had I didn't want to take him. Finally got in yesterday when it went to 62*. He looks and smells so much better. Hubby and I are not the neatest in trimming butt fur and I hatehatehate trimming nails...scares the crap out of me.
If you’ve ever found yourself wondering how many teeth dogs have, wonder no more. In general terms, an adult dog has 42 teeth. I say “in general”, because this can vary depending on the breed, but usually, it’s 42, as follows;
12 incisor teeth, 4 canine teeth, 16 premolar teeth and 10 molar teeth.
I had to check...I was guessing they 30 teeth...guess I was wrong. That's good thing:)
Yes, he is very healthy for 2 months(guestimate) short of 12. He is one of my heart dogs:) I had all his labs and a heartworm test...just to make sure he was healthy enough!
I bet he will feel better now! That is great he is still going at 12. Jane, you are so smart to use extreme care in this weather. I have 4 wheel drive but am continually amazed at how many people forget how to drive in winter and this has been an especially bad one.
The last accident 4 teenage boys were killed:( The driver and brother of one of the victims was driving...and also looks like the only one wearing a seat belt...they slid into the path of a BIG pick-up with 2 children in it. Luckily they survived with non life threatening injuries.
Wow, Jane, my heart sunk reading that. I agree so scary, and not worth risking anyones life over!!
We've had 7 people killed in car accidents within 20 miles of where we live in the last 2 months...I changed Teddy's appointment to the other town (same vet) as we were expecting icy weather and not a curvy road...thank goodness we only had rain. So scary to be out driving ...
Awww, Teddy! I bet he is glad to be pain free now, thats a lot of teeth! He will do just fine without them I am sure, I bet its a relief to have that taken care of. What a lucky corgi he is to be with you and your family. :) Glad the weather cooperated this morning, hope it wasnt too bad for you!! The roads are awful here!!
