28 Sept.: Things are looking great. Ace has a fierce history of guarding food from other animals, so we've had to be veeeeery careful about that with Lady. It's difficult because he will snap over some of the most worthless items, just because she happens to approach them - carrot ends, dried out treats from yesteryear... But yeah. I say things are great because despite that, Ace and Lady have become awesome siblings. They play tug almost constantly, and when they're not tugging they're chasing the other down and wrestling them with gusto. I am so happy that they are getting along so well! I'll update this post in a bit with a video of the two in a heated match. :-)

28 Sept.: Oh my god, why did no one remind me of how awful it is to crate train a youngster! Lady is a bit of a howler... okay, that's an understatement. My husband went to work with bags the size of suitcases under his eyes and I chugged down a mixed coffee to stay awake for Lady's sake. It's been less than 24 hours and I am exhausted! I hope that things go better tonight... !

Lady has come home and is an adorable little angel. She walks on a loose-leash, she ADORES humans (Ace being a bulldozer and running her over hasn't helped her dog relations), and she's learned to Sit, nose touch and the very beginnings of a leave-it. I'm so thrilled with her. :-) Lady also loves toys! It's so strange to have a dog who's actually into them, what with Ace giving zero signs of interest since his arrival a year ago.
Here's a video of the two being their silly selves. More to come tomorrow; I need to sleep!

She's just lovely. Glad to hear things are going so well. Bummer she's a crier but she'll probably get over it in a few days. We were VERY lucky with Jack and he slept through the night from Day 1. Whenever I start dreaming of puppies I remind myself sternly that he was not typical. :-) I don't believe myself, though. lol
I hear you!! When my husband surprised me with an Aussie puppy 5 months ago, all I could do was think "oh no...I'm too old to raise a puppy!!". I'm bad though- I let her sleep in bed with me, and crate trained her during the day. It was much easier that way, and all my dogs sleep in bed with me, so it wasn't a big deal at my house. Not sure if you do that or not--but hang in there, it gets better!!
Welcome Home Lady!!! Looking forward to updates and lots of pics and videos!! Congrats to Ace on becoming a big brother. Love both Ace and Ladys name
Oh my goodness. So cute! Maybe Ace's toy drive will ramp up with a new dog in the house. Looking forward to updates on your progress. :D
