Starbuck was ten weeks old yesterday. She got her second puppy shots. She was very nice to the vet... until they gave her a shot. She cried and cried, and it broke my heart! She has a slight ear infection, so they cleaned out her ears. She gets to have medicine for the next couple weeks. She hates it. When we were on our way to reward her with a snowcone, she threw up in the car... so we turned around and headed straight back to the vet. She got her temperature taken and took it like a champ! He gave her benedryl, I believe, and sent us on our way. Luckily, we think it was just the treats he gave her to get her to sit and not an allergic reaction. She seems to have a sensitive tummy and can't stomach anything not super high quality. We gave her a Kong sticky treaty thingy and she threw up. But her special doggy boutique treats stay in her tummy.

I definitely understand why breeders would wait to give puppies to their new homes until 10 weeks. She's so much calmer than she was even two weeks ago. She can even sit, circle, stand up, and come when she's called! She even understands "no bite" when she's biting a human and "no chew" when she's chewing on something she shouldn't-- like a wall. Potty training is a work in progress, but it's a huge improvement from her first few days when I thought she'd never potty outside. She does love to eat foliage, which poses a problem outside, but we try to keep actual consumption limited.

She's a definitely a few handfuls, but she's a great puppy and we're excited to have her in our family for the next 20 years... we're optimists and I don't let go very easily. haha
