I never really thought about it before but definitely my smarter corgis were the most challenging as puppies. I guess we quickly forget the puppy stage, like childbirth, or we'd never have more kids or puppies. My bad boys were definitely smart and bold. We love them all but oh those bad boys make for some great stories. Lucy was a little monster of a puppy. My kids never thought she'd fly right. But, I knew she'd be a great one. Now Lucy and I look at each other and roll our eyes at Rafa's crazy antics.
That's funny what you say about your red and whites. I also had a couple of red and whites that were super sweet but no rocket scientists! And one that was super smart but not super sweet to anyone but family. Lucy is a red and white and is super smart and sweet. However Rafa may be a bit more affectionate. He's very smart. You'd never know it to look at him. You look at Lucy and immediately see the intelligence in her eyes. She used to unnerve me when she was a puppy because she could out-stare anyone. Great concentration. Tilts her head if we use a new word. Knows every move we make sometimes before we know. She's got dark round eyes and is definitely a quality corgi––both parents champions. Better pedigree than Jack and me. Rafa didn't even come with papers. He has light, small eyes that belie his intelligence. He's smart as a whip. I always told Jack that you have to be smart to be funny. Rafa is one funny and smart little cookie. You should see him jump and try to open the door knob when Jack leaves the room. Or the time I saw him do a slight adjustment on his bed and then looked at me like he was an angel. I noticed his adjustment and took a peek. Sure enough he moved to hide Whitney's flip flop under him.
We all love the bad boys! Poor Lucy. She's so good that she's not getting any copy. ; )
However, she did let Rafa who was boss when they fought over––can you believe––an earthworm!
Rafa is my first ever tri. I have heard that tris are more mischievous. Has anyone else heard this? I'm starting to believe it!
We always did our dog's grooming, especially because Corgis require so little, but Jack had back surgery. It's an awful story but a cautionary tale. Everyone who brings their dogs for grooming should check out the area fully, making certain that there's a harness not a neck collar and that the dogs are NEVER left alone in the bath. I have also heard of dogs that died because they were left with a blow dryer in the crate that was too hot.
My husband and I is all set to get another
corgi pup when our children move out
on there own.
So, I plan on following in your footsteps.
I have a few years yet. Since; my son is 13
and my daughter is 12.
But I am planning ahead. :-)
Yeah everyone's safe, thank god! I happened to be on the other side of campus but we went into lock down for about four hours. Apparently a man wearing a suit and a ski mask ran into our library with an AK47, fired shots, then shot himself. We still don't know who he was or why he did it. The university's emergency alert system acted fast and kept everyone informed while it was all going on. I'm just glad no one other than the shooter was hurt
