Do not read this article if you want to keep your eyes dry.

I truly believe there is no greater love shown to men by any other creatures.

I think the only thing they got wrong in the article is the word “phenomenon.” It is not an uncommon event. It is part of live, and love.

I believe there's a statue in Scotland or someplace commemorating a dog who waited at the station for years for his person to return.

A Washington state history project recounted the shameful and illegal internment of local Japanese-Americans during WWII.  Of all the tragedy and horror of that, what touched me most was the story of an elderly, childless couple's dog.  The authorities would not allow pets to accompany their people to the camps.  This dog was left with friendly neighbors, but it fell into a fatal depression, would not eat, and died.

Wonderful article and my eyes were not dry!  Cannot imagine anyone living without a dog in their life!  Thanks for the article (and the tears!)
