I will be heading out tomorrow to pick up the new addition to my family. It's going to be about a 9 & 1/2 hour drive, but will be so worth it! Luckily, I have a friend going along, so I can spend some time with the pup on the way home. Kind of nervous about her being in the car for so long, though. I know puppies have short attention spans, and I'm afraid she's going to get very antsy very fast. I still haven't decided 100% on a name. The two that I have been debating between are Emma and Hannah. Any thoughts?

I have her crate all set up and ready to go. Went out tonight and picked out food. Decided on the Blue Buffalo brand after researching for a few days. Also got some Charlee Bear treats, which are going to work great for training. A Kong toy, a couple tennis balls, and a very noisy stuffed cow (that my boyfriend insisted on getting) later, I decided I should probably call it a night.

I'm so excited! This has been the longest week ever just waiting!

Congratulations. She'll be fine...I've made a trip like that w/a pup and he did excellent. You could take some nutri cal w/you incase she is overly anxious..this will help to keep her glycogen levels up or even karo syrup. Have water too...thats a long trip but she'll sleep for alot of it. Good luck.

How exciting! We took a long drive to pick up our puppy too. It was about 7 1/2 hours and Finnigan did just fine. I ended up sitting in the back with him the whole way home. He was a little fidgety at first but soon settled down and fell asleep. He was 8 weeks old at the time and seemed to only want to sleep so it made for an easy trip. I think we stopped for potty breaks about every hour unless he was asleep then we would keep driving until he was up. You guys will do just fine. Just be sure to bring water for the pup and the breeder should send you home with some of the food the pup has been eating so you can mix it with the Blue Buffalo for an easy transition. You can also give her some in the car if she gets hungry. Great choice of food by the way! We feed Finn the Blue Buffalo puppy food and he loves it.

I like the name Hannah. I had an Australian Shepherd names Hannah growing up so I’m partial to the name. :)

I don't think you can go wrong with either Hannah or Emma, but I suppose Emma jumped out at me more. Cute girly names for a new puppy, good luck.

I'm so excited for you! You new little one will sleep a good amount of the time so the card ride won't be too bad. Stop often and let her stretch and piddle. Don't encorage her to eat too much in the car, but she should have a little something in her tummy. Have fun! All of our Corgis had long road trips home and it was a good experience all around. Good bonding time for you! As for the name...the car ride home may help you decide which one fits better. I've always liked the name Emma for a little girl Corgi. I like the name Hannah as well. Nice old fashioned names...but then my daughters are Sarah and Emily so you can tell I like old names!

Holy wow, 9.5 hours! That is dedication! ;) Have fun, it IS worth it for sure. You will probably want to stop at least once and hour for her to go potty, maybe a little longer if she is over 10 weeks old. Otherwise, you sound prepared! I like Hannah for a name, it not your typical dog name :)
