I've given it.  It works.  No problems to report.  When Aber was recovering from surgery and the pain meds were running out, the vet recommended it if he seemed sore.  They usually eat them with no problem too if you get the orange flavored kind.

You have to be careful when giving aspirin to dogs as they metabolize it more slowly than we do, so no more than every 12 hours.  Long term use can also upset the stomach.  Best discussed with your Vet.

give only baby aspirin or buffered aspirin, do not EVER EVER EVER give any other type of human pain med or you will kill your dog. Baby aspirin can cause ulcers and other GI issues as well as thinning of the blood and bleeding so use it with caution. If you are talking very rare occasions, then it should be fine, but if you are looking for a more regular or long term cure then definitely talk to your vet and get an anti-inflammatory made specifically for dogs.

From what I know it's fine to give them a baby aspirin on rare occasions but it should not be used long term. Be careful it doesn't contain xylitol as that's being used more often to sweeten kid's medications.

I have given my girl one baby aspring at night for stiffness....It is effective and inexpensive.  ^,,^

Thanks for your input.  Quincy has started to limp on his right hind leg, it seems to happen when he gets up after laying down.  I also notice sometimes he will be cautious going up stairs or places himself "accordingly" when he tries to sit after having an active day.  He is still full of personality, running and playing.  I have tried to curb his activity so he doesn't overdue it, but he still ends up limping when he gets up after laying down (almost like a little old man).  I just want to find something that can help give him more relief.  Do you give her one every night or a once or twice a week?  Quincy just turned 7 last Sunday and I just want to keep him happy as long as possible.  His vet has given me some holistic/herbal medicines to give him.  They help but haven't rectified the issue :(   Maybe I'm being unrealistic??

Have you tried supplementing with Glucosamine and Condroitin?  If not, you may want to look into that.

Yes, he is on Arthrisoothe a liquid Glucosamine and Chondroitin and last visit she just gave me an herbal tendon and ligament powder for him.  Thanks for your input!  I think all this is just going to take time....

Yes these remedies take more time, but they actually help the situation, rather than mask symptoms, without side effect,  so be patient and give it a couple of months, while   avoiding any known  things that may aggravate.

I use the glocosamine and chondroitin complex as well.  My two respond best to "Pets Prefer" brand...You can order from Jeffers Vet Supply on line.  I do not have a regular asprin routine I have always been a little concerned about stomach issues.....I know it can cause stomach upset in humans.  I typically give her asprin at night, but we are night feeders so her tummy is full when I give it to her.  It really does help with "inflamation" the same as it does for humans.  If she is having issues I will give her one at night and one in the morning for 2 to 3 days.  You might be suprised that your boy does not acutally need it every night but needs it for a few days with limited activity in order relieve any inflmation.  ^,,^
