Overheard somewhere...its just a dog, if thats what you think you have no business having one.

Er, I guess it depends on the context. If someone says that as an excuse to leave a dog chained outside with no water or shelter, than shame on them. If someone says it in the context of "Please don't go back in that burning building because you might die and it's just a dog...." then that is sensible.

I love my dogs as much as anyone here. But dogs are not people and they are certainly not children. I've lost pets that I loved dearly and it's heartbreaking and I cried for weeks. I've known people who lost children and they are gutted, lives are ruined and never the same again. So yes they are special, but no they are not people.

I agree Beth. And sometimes its not a bad thing to remember that they are 'dogs' (not necessarily 'just a dog' in a bad way) and not humans- as much as we love them, and by all means I love and adore my dpg.

Just google Dog saves...the list goes on and on. For the people that think it is just a dog, I actually pity them, for they have no idea of what they are missing.

So yea...when I hear someone say that..I look at them and say....yea go ahead and think that..then I give them a knowing wink and a smile. Because I know better....

That really chaps me! I could never understand people like that, I guess those are the one with the dog chained in the backyard. Then they can't understand why the dog barks all the time. OOhhhh don't get me started!!!
