winnie not eating
i am not sure if she just no longer likes her kibble, if she is too full, if her kibble is stale or if the hot humid weather is making her not want breakfast, but winnie doesn't seem to want to eat in the morning. we currently feed raw (premade) at night and kibble in the morning she had been all the way up to 3/4 a cup and now she won't finish a 1/2 a cup. She seems happy and healthy and she eats her dinners (inhales then usually) and snacks, but the morning feeding is a chore at this point. we are soon going to start the transition to adult food. but i am a little concerned by this lack of appetite in the mornings.

all i can think off is if something is up with her teeth, she is too young (i think) to have decay but she might be getting the last couple in (neeka is almost 11 months and shes got her last two comming in) she doesnt eat as much when she is teething, maybe because the kibble is harder to chew. otherwise she wont starve herself, if she is hungry she will eat.

At 7 months all her teeth are in, but between 7-10 months the teeth set firmly in place into the jaws. So the chewing is setting her teeth, but shouldn't really affect her appetite.
I suspect she has a strong preference for the raw food over the kibble, so she's holding out for raw food. If you want her to eat a half-raw diet and half-kibble diet, try mixing her day's quanitity of raw food but refrigerate half of it. Give her half the raw and half the kibble at each meal. You might need to microwave the refrigerated raw meal just to bring it up to room temperature. Put her food down for no more than 30 minutes, then pick it up until the next meal. She will learn that she only has a couple of limited opportunities to eat each day, so there's no time to be picky. Trust me, she won't starve herself. : - )

yeah she certaily isn't starving, but its odd that she has been eaiting this way just fine for 4 and a half months and then decides to be stubborn. oh well i am hoping as we transition her to the evo kibble she will become interested in kibble again.

Lily is doing the same thing. We are changing her food and transitioning her to another this weekend. The heat might be the issue, but I would watch her carefully. Lily has not been eating the regular amount except when she is absolutely hungry. She prefers the banana that I have put into her food lately. Hope she eats better soon :)

hmm that worrys me because two of neekas teeth are just poking through, i check her teeth almost everynight and i just noticed them, i wonder why she is getting them so late.

how old is winnie? maybe her teeth hurt. scout wasnt much for eating hid kibble but he is fine now...it could also be worms.

winnie is 7 mos. soon to be 8 mos. i have her on her heard guard and flea medicine, so i would hope she doesn't have worms. we'll see as the weather changes if she gets any better...

She is probably just being a stubborn corgi. Believe me we have one on our hand too. She is probably just holding out for better food that she likes! You just really need to be strict about the eating schedule. really only put down the food for a certian amount of time. we give Mochi 30 mins. And you have to be STRONG... if she doesn't eat. Take away the food and don't feed her anything until the next schedule feeding time. Puppies need schdules and stucture. Believe me, she isn't going to resent you or hate you, but she will learn to eat when the food is put down and that you are the boss, the food giver.
It really worked for me. Mochi used to skip 2-3 meals. We tried to coax her to eat becasue WE felt bad. But when we started the strict feeding schedule she is gotten a lot better. Don't get me wrong sometimes she will skip a meal just to be stubborn but sure enough the next feeding time she will eat.
And Mind you Dogs don't ALWAYS have to eat every single meal you give them. I think its kind of habit for us because we HAVE to eat everyday. But dogs in the wild will go for days with out food. They know their body than you do. So if their body doesn't need food she won't eat.
The big thing is be strong and stern. Its the best for them in the long run.

winnie has been on a schedule since day one. thought with tairing and everything she does get a lot of treats every day too. but we put a lid on her dry food and she can try again tomorrow. i think it might be a combo of a lot of different things. but she isn't starving and she doesn't appear to be in pain. i just thought that corgis were always hungry, apparently their stubborness can win out though.

I thought corgis were always hungry too!! so i got really concerned when scout was skipping most of his meals. I later found out that i was feeding him too much and he was being a good boy and adjusting his own food intake to the proper amount :D. I wouldnt worry too much unless her energy is low or she isnt acting like herself. maybe its the hormones? dont they kick in around that time if the dogs arent spayed? scout has recently decided that humping our legs is a good idea.

Yeah Mochi is totally food motivated when it comes to her treats and training!! But when it comes to eating wise, she didn't like her kibble at all. But after a week at this wonderful cageless boarding place we take her, we've noticed that she totally eats when we put the food down now. I think it's also they give them less of a time window since they have to feed so many dogs. So she learn quickly, that if she doesn't eat her food in 15 min. She doesn't get food at all. Plus i notice she really gets hungry after a lot of play or from a day at daycare, she's eat the kibble right when we put it down.
