Al and Gwynnie are inspired! If Goro can climb Fuji, they can climb Mt. Adams (Washington state), which is nearly as high and likely more remote. Goro has given us a goal for next summer! Stay tuned.

I think you should invite them to hike with you in WA and then they can be your host family and go to Mt. Fuji. I loved his hiking jacket:)

Nice video and nice Corgi, but what a desolate climb! BTW Mt.Fuji is in Japan, so I'm wondering why the Bhutan, Nepal tag.... There's also a video of th dog (Goro) with a cat, whee the cat is waring a coat! What a trooper....

Volcanoes are basically slag heaps. They're more fun when they're snow-covered... but that means glaciers, and I would not take a dog where there might be crevasses. Fuji is around 3700 m; and if you go that high from sea level in a weekend, altitude sickness is a real possibility.

Wow, makes me wonder how many other mountains corgis are hiding in. It figures, though, they should be able to go as high as the mountain goats and yaks. Somebody needs to herd them and border collies are too narrow minded and focused to see beyond the field.

I had been planning to save up money over the next eight to ten years and head to Iceland to get my next dog (an icelandic sheepdog). It is the happiest place on earth you know, as well as one of the most beautiful. But after reading this story, I may just try some trekking through the Himalayans and see what I can pick up. Bhutan is one of the happiest places on earth as well. (I wonder where Wales fits in on the happiness scale?)
