Normally, Gunny eats anything and everything. But recently, my 6 month old corgi seems to only take a few bites of his food then plays with his toys. Yesterday I tried pouring a little bacon grease on it <very small amount> and he ate it right up! I need some insight. I don't think we give him too many table scraps and it really has become out of no where. Help!

A picky eater is made not born. Quit adding goodies to his food. He's training you to cater to his every whim. He will try to hold out for the goodies to be added. Don't fall into his trap!! He'll eat if he's hungry. Perhaps he's getting too much food. How much are you feeding him? He shouldn't be getting any table scraps. That's the easiest way to end up with a fat Corgi. Not good at all. Some veggies or a teaspoon of yogurt is fine to add but not really necessary. If you add veggies, use fresh or frozen to avoid the salt of canned and don't add ones that you have sauced up for yourself. Not Corgi ever died beside a full food bowl!!
One of two things is happening, either he doesn't like the food you are feeding him, or he has become a picky eater. Don't put yummy treats in his food to entice him to eat. Leave the food down for 15-20 minutes and then pick it up. Offer him two meals a day like this, if he doesn't eat, then he gets no food until dinner. A healthy dog won't starve itself. If you try this for 2 or 3 days and he STILL doesn't eat, I'd try a different brand of dog food. Franklin went through this at about 8 months old, and when I switched his food he went back to eating regularly again. But I only offered him his food with no goodies and did this for 2 or 3 days before switching dog foods. He has been eating great ever since. Corgis are SMART and will try to trick you into adding things like bacon and human food to their kibble, don't fall for it or you will end up with a dog that won't eat ANYTHING.
There is also the possibility that he has something wrong with him, but I highly doubt that's the case since you said he jumped at eating his kibble with bacon grease on it.
Thanks! ill try all of the advice! MUST NOT GIVE INTO THE CORGI WAYS OF CUTENESS!!
What kind of food are you feeding Gunny? Pazu went through a similar phase at around 6-8 months old when he was on Wellness puppy food and when we switched to Wellness core he never had that problem again. I didn't jump to the conclusion that he is picky..but more that he was telling me that his body needed something different.
gunny eats chicken soup for the soul dry dog food. tonight, he ate!!!
Also, in lieu of his age he may have some new teeth coming in so chewing may be difficult. Softening it with some water will help with that.
I soften up Ziggy's, just 'cause I imagine it to taste a little better-I could be wrong, but it seems to me like it would help release the flavor of the kibble.. Hope I'm not just making it nasty for him xD (He doesn't act like it.)
