I was playing with Ellie this morning with her skunk much like any other morning, but I accidently hurt her and now I feel like the meanest corgi mom in the world. Her skunk has no stuffing, but has a hard ball in it. Ellie likes to play fetch, but it is oh so hard for her to let go when she brings it back so we play tug of war at the same time we play fetch. I was waiting for a good opportunity to get the skunk away from her when she suddenly let go. In my haste to throw it again before she got another bite on it, she put her head in my throw path (throwing from close to the floor) at the last minute and I accidently hit her in the side of the face with that hard ball part. She made a slight squeak and I knew it really had to hurt. She walked around for a few minutes with one eye half shut, and even though I cuddled her and told her how sorry I was, she acted scared of me and made me feel like a an ogre. She finally quit squinting her eye, but I still feel horrible--hope she forgives me and has no lasting injuries or effects from it.

She should be fine. Same thing has happened to Teddy. He gets so excited he forgets the "wait" command and has gotten bonked in the head a few times. Corgis have hard heads. :)
I've done something similar like that with Noodles. Usually he thinks it is his fault, so he comes running over to me and starts giving me kisses. I tell him over and over how sorry I was and kiss him on his head. She will forgive you and I hate to say it, but it will happen again. I completely understand how you are feeling right now though. :(
Mine get stepped on a lot usually by my husband and they still love him so I bet she will get over it quickly.
I'm sure she'll be fine. Remember corgis were bred to herd cattle and get kicked occasionally. When Brodie showed up I was so used to having dogs without tails that I kept stepping on his or running over it with my computer chair. I felt horrible, but he forgave me pretty quickly and seems to have learned to keep it out of my way now! LOL
How is she now? I bet she has forgotten about already
