Hello fellow Corgi owners!
I have a 15 week old male corgi. And for a couple of days now, his urine has a lil bit of mucusy substance (looks kinda like yellowish-green SNOT) remaining on his guide hairs/furs after he urinates. Has anyone run into that issue before with their pup(s)? Is it a UTI in puppies?
He's eatting normally, drinking normally, PLAYING normally and he doesn't seem to be in 'pain' or slowing down his normal behaviors ... but that just started happening. My husband and i thought it was FLUKE and maybe the urine 'froze' to his guide hairs cuz it's been quiet cold lately (below freezing some nights), but it happened again the day after.
Please help me out... and let me know if this is a BAD thing? My instincts tell me... it maybe UTI, but this is my first puppy ever, so i'm not sure 100%.
thanks!!

It sounds like a bacterial infection to me. I would say to get him to the vet asap to see if there may be anything else going on.
I agree, sounds like an infection. This is common in young puppies and sometimes the vet opts not to treat, but I'd let the vet make that call.
Ace had that. Ugh, it was so nasty having to clean out that gunk. I took him to the vet to get it checked out but aside from keeping the area clean, I wasn't given further instructions. I'd just pay a little visit to see what's going on, and it's always good for a pup to be exposed to the vet's office at a young age. :-)
So, Mishka had this as a puppy and I asked our vet about it - our vet looked and said, a lot of puppies get that, don't be worried unless it looks worse. Just keep the area clean.
And eventually it went away.
BUT, with your first puppy ever, you'll feel better if you ask your vet. Better safe than sorry.
