Lance Says Enough Already!!!! UPDATE
So I come home today to find that Lance has a tick on him and it is engorged :O I removed it the best I could with tweezers, rubbing alcohol. It was really hard to grab a hold of it towards the bottom of the engorged tick. I grabbed it closest to the bottom as I could and pulled straight up, and when it came off, it oozed, blackish/red color? Before removing tick we put rubbing alcohol on it and immediately afterwards as well to cleanse the area like it said to do on the site we looked up.
Lance is already dealing with auto immune issues as it is and also is on Liver supplement for his liver. I will call the vet to see what he wants to do. Why oh why do these things have to happen.
I guess a good freeze is what I am rooting for. The thought that he got this tick from our backyard grosses me out. We dont have landscaping besides trees in the back, so they are hiding in our grass??? He went on a walk around the neighborhood but nothing like in the woods or anything!!!!
Any advice you can think of would be appreciated.
UPDATE: Going to the vet at 6:15 to have rest of the tick removed, apparently I wasn't able to get all of it out yesterday. :(

I have the tick in rubbing alcohol in a sealed container in case the vet wants to see it.

Awwww Lance....sometimes life just doesn't seem fair:( We usually only have a problem with this in spring...we'll send you the cold and snow we are getting today so those darn ticks leave! Sorry I don't have any words of wisdom...I think you did fine Natalie and don't know what else you could have done.

How big is the tick? There are a lot of larger ticks that don't carry Lyme etc., so definitely show it to the vet, it could ease your fears to know it's just obnoxious, but not a disease carrier. Also, check out the "tick key" at a pet shop -- I have found it works much better than tweezers for pulling up the whole tick. And my experience of spraying is that it's not greatly effective -- nothing seems to kill them. They burrow under the leaves all winter and spring back, they survive drowning, they are the worst. Just venting. I hope Lance is good.

Thanks Susan! Not sure how big it is, but it was engorged. I will have the vet look at it tomm. I have it soaking in rubbing alcohol which is suppose to kill it I believe, its in a sealed plastic container. I definitely need to check out the tick key now!!!! I am going to have tick nightmares now.

oh wow. Poor Lance! I hope it's not a Lyme carrier. I have seen the tick key at Zamzows here. I haven't tried it. It looks like it works pretty well though. I hate ticks as well, They are so disgusting. They freak me out. Hugs
