Hello!

I found a reputable breeder really close to my area (about 45 mins) but I would have to wait until Spring to get a puppy. What did you guys do while waiting before getting your puppy? I have read 4 books, articles, already bought some things but now I am running out of things to do ^^'

How did you guys cope with the waiting? :P

read..read and read more...lots to learn :)

Watch Zak George videos on youtube. He is a very positive and enthusiastic trainer. Good luck!

I already did but thanks anyways :3

read through all the advice here on mycorgi?  corgis are very smart and will have you trained.  just when you think they have been through enough training, in my opinion there is never enough training you can do with them!   Make sure to get plenty of rest now, cause you wont have time to rest once you get your pup.  :P

I do every day! :3

Hi Julie:   so where are you getting your pup from? Found my first corgi in Canada, but had to get my second one from Michigan, as there were none anywhere!!

I will send you a PM once you accept my friend request ^^

I hear ya. We waited 4 years and just got our pooch last week.

Lots of time on corgiaddict and reddit's corgi section. Lots of reading on training, including dogstardaily where you can read Ian Dunbar's ebooks for free.

yep already have read Ian Dunbar's book many times ^^

Start buying puppy gear a little at a time, so as not to break the bank after the Big Arrival. Puppy crate, X-pen, collars, leashes, down payment on the veterinarian... ;-D

Already have the crate, getting the ex-pem next month. Id rather wait for collars, and leashes since I dont know what size I should get. I will also subcribe to BarkBox next month. I should actually contact the vet I will go with for payments so I can see how much it will cost for neutering, vaccins, and stuff like that.
Look for training classes you can take for basic puppy manners and socialization. Look for classes that emphasize positive methods.

Do your research about food for a corgi puppy. There are several threads on this site that discuss it.

Puppy proof your home. It's amazing how many hazards exist with the reach of their little yapping jaws.

Discuss basic puppy rules with everyone in your household before puppy comes home. Have consistent rules for basic stuff like house training, feeding treats, words to use for basic commands. You'll be surprised how inconsistent commands are. For example if you want your dog to get off the sofa do you say 'down' or 'off'. If you say 'down' is that going to conflict with asking them to lay down. There all sorts of things like that you will run into.

Riding in the car- might need another crate. You might need more than one in the house too. One in your bedroom for sleeping. One near the living area for general use. Xpen works for general use but may find that it doesn't help with house training at first.

Scope out parks you can take him to. Find a corgi meet-up group in your area.

Pick out a name!

Get a good camera and take lots of pictures!!!
