My little man woke up this morning with one red squinty eye. He isn't sensitive to bright light, and he squints it once and a while. There is no goop or watering, and he's not itching. Can dogs have allergies? I just want to chalk it up to dryness because it's hot here and we constantly run our oscillating fans, but I'm a little worried!

yes, dogs can have seasonal allergies as well as food allergies. you may want to call your vet and ask if they think you should bring him in if it doesn't get better! or maybe something is in his eye, might be worth having the vet check it out.
It is unlikely that an allergy would affect only one eye. I agree with Beth and Natalie, if he has a scratch or something in his eye it's a simple thing to remedy, but harder if you wait. Eyes are too delicate and too important to take a chance, have the Vet take a look.
I agree with the others. Max has allergies but they affect both eyes with a discharge. It would be a good idea to get him checked today if possible so that it doesn't blow up into a worse scenario over the weekend.
I also agree with what the others have said. When it comes to the eye, I take that very seriously. Noodles has made 3 trips in to the vet due to eye issues and every time he's been given drops since he some how scratched his eye. Better to be safe than sorry.
Is there an emergency vet you can go to? That is a long time to wait for an eye injury. They can be very painful, and if infection sets in it can be harder to treat. We were to the emergency vet twice with Jack for eye injuries. Both on a weekend, of course.
agree with beth... eye injuries can be serious if left untreated too long, not to scare you. better to get it looked at sooner than later. would hate for the worst case scenario happen.
Alright, Monday is here...and his eye has completely cleared up! I don't know what was up. Thank you everyone for your concern!
