I was wondering if someone could recommend some healthy snacks for Bubba since like most Corgis he's most food motivated. He jumps off the couch, he'll sit expecting a treat for his feat. He'll go out back and pee, come back to me expecting a treat. In the evenings we have a little snack before bed and I try to minimize his caloric intake by giving him boiled chicken or a dozen unsalted green beans. Of course, he wants what I have instead!! My little snack may be chips and dip which is not healthy for me and certainly not for him. Unfortunately he's not an advocate of fruit as I've tried apples, bananas and even broccoli and he turns his nose up. His regular treats are Old Mother Hubbard or some treats by Mother Nature (Natura), or Wellness Bars.

Baby carrots..the tinier the better because they are tastier. My Butter will do anything for baby carrots! They are sweet so he may like them. My Butter is on a diet too.
Nope-tried the carrots too. He's a bit rotten because he won't eat them as is but, if I shread them up like cabbage and put them into his bowl along with his kibble, he'll eat them! Lool Did I say he was rotten? I bought some blue berries several times this past summer and offered him half a dozen in my hand but, he wouldn't take them. I smashed them up in my hand are offered them again and...you know what's coming-he ate them then.
I wish he would eat them but alas, I've tried that several times to no avail. He does love strawberries...I forgot to mention that.
I'd suggest frozen carrots/green beans or to just break up the wellness treats into itty bitty pieces :)
He does like green beans but if I'm nunching on Doritos, he prefers that and I have to explain how there's galic salt in Doritos. Carrots are just not in his menu, unfortunately unless shredded. (rolls eyes). I guess I'm the culprit that caused that.
maybe some fat free cheese?
Like most of them, he loves cheese but I've doled it out very sparingly as I buy the Delux American cheese with all the fat content...never thought about the fat free. I'll pick up some at the grocery store Friday. Good suggestion.
Maybe you can have grated carrots on hand since he likes those, I believe you can even buy them already grated. I have used Wagathas treats and they are very soft and break into very tiny pieces so you may give them a try they come in different flavors. Google Wagathas and you should be able to find the website. Good luck!
Another good suggestion. It's odd the firest time I gave him a carrot it was the standard 7-8 inch variety and he gnawed on that thiing twenty miniutes...the last tilme, unfortunately for whatever the reason. I'll check out the Wagathas-thanks
Charlie Bears! They are three calories each and the dogs love them! They sell them at most pet supply stores.
ditto! and if you happen to have a Trader Joes (a grocery store chain) near ya, our store sells them for $2.99 a bag!!!! It's a steal!

Charlie Bears come in different flavors: cheese/egg/liver, liver, cranberry and liver ... you cant go wrong with liver flavored treats!
There's a Trader Joes where my sister lives in NC. Maybe I can get her to send me some. She's geting a one year old female tri color soon so, that knowledge would benefit her as well. I'll pass this on. Who makes the Charlie Bears?
