I agree, Kirby gets along great with my boyfriend's mother's two Dachsunds (his "aunt" and "uncle" haha). In fact, he is always a little angel when he comes home from a visit at her house because he tires himself out so much playing with them.
I don't know spike is crazy about yorkies he loves them.
aww
My pup barks at any dog that has a pug or bulldog face. He chases them around at first, barking to get them to play, but if they don't he will "pester" them until they get tired of him! Also very old dog or disabled dogs seem to set him off. He's good with everyone else, and actually does have a couple of puggle friends at the dog park, but he still barks at them.
aww bless
Bubba doesn't care for Basset Hounds. The first one he encountered was at the vet and he nearly climbed up in my lap when the Basset came in. Maybe it was those big floppy ears(like he has room to talk). He seems to like his own more than any others I suppose as that's what he was raised around. Believe it or not, he's buddied up to more Pit Bulls than others besides Corgis.
Dogs that meet short snouted dogs tend to think that the labored breathing sound is growling. Most small dogs have a high energy level. Ouuu, I don't like either of those as well. Just kidding. So, your dog just needs calm and pretty friends. Sometimes dogs get the wrong impression about cats because their tails stick straight up in the air. In the world according to dogs, that means," hey, I might bite, stand back". If you make the introduction a controled pleasant situation, you will give your dog a paw up on his social ladder. My Samoyed does not like Rottie's because one of his playmates used to be a Rottie that wore a prong collar (God I hate those things!). He got his paw stuck in it and now associates Rottie's with pain. That situation could of and should of been advoided. Your dogs behavior always has reason behind it. Sometimes you have to think like a dog. They are smarter anyways!
My Sooty does not like white dogs especially Westies- he was attacked as a youngster by two westies so cannot blame him but as he has got older it is now all white dogs.
Mine are very friendly too but seem to not care for the unruly ones.
yes, my corgi hates golden retrievers. when he went to his first agility class, there was a golden. the owner of the golden thought it was cute to train him to be mean then was trying to reverse it by socializing. The golden growled at me. Myles went nuts trying to protect me. Ever since then, when he see's a golden Myles goes into panic mode trying to protect his mom.
Myles was even kicked out of doggy day care from this. A golden was playing with his little sister (Madison the papillon) when Maddy decided things were getting too rough, she squealed, he bit the golden in defence. With this said, we warned the day care owners not to put them with bigger dogs, especially Golden Retrievers, but they did not listen. We were asked not to come back to the school. they knew it was their fault, but if they were to blame him, then I did not want to bring the dogs there, as they did not seem to pay too much attention to the wishes of the doggy parents.
Yes my corgi Honey has always hated/been jelous of dogs that are bigger than her she will just bark and bark she does also have problems with cocker spaniels. One time she was all nice at first then snap she bit poor Butterscotch right on the nose. One time she got so barky and nasty she made a German Shepard cry! THe owner was shocked because that dog was a guard dog and actually stopped someone from breaking in a month before but shook with fear at the site of my corgi. LOL! She's fine with little dogs and one's that ae just her size but if they're bigger forget it!
Ginny loves Australian Shepherds. They're her favorite playmates at the dogpark, but she'll play with most any dog with a good temperment. She seems to be a little reserved around boxers though, I think because they tend to sort of bounce around and when they play, they sort of bat at her with their paws and I don't think she "gets" it.
