Have you ever not been able to find your corgi for a few minutes? It happened to me yesterday. It was doggie dinnertime and I started calling for Sidney. I quickly located Bruce and Chester but no Sid. That's weird, I thought. Sid's always first in line when it comes to food! I asked my son "have you seen Sidney", but he hadn't either. We started checking in the house and I began to get worried. Checked in the back yard, raising my voice to call for him with that telltale catch in my voice that betrays my crumbling hope. Tears starting to well up as I begin interrogating other family members; "Are you sure you closed the gate?" "Did he maybe get out the front door?". Argh, it was horrible. As it turns out, he managed to close an upstairs bedroom door behind him. My son found him and you can imagine my immense relief and I hugged him so tight! I'm sure Sid was wondering what the heck was going on and why did we disturb his peaceful nap?

Not my Corgi but my cat. We were moving and had a POD, it got picked up. Dinner time for the kitty came and she was no-where to be found, all of a sudden I realised she could be in the POD at the warehouse that was going to be stored for at least a month. Fortunately whe was pinned under a washing basket.
I have this phobia that someone will steal my dogs out of my car (I live in rural CT and they go everywhere with me, as long as it's not too hot out) -- understand, this is an area where everyone knows everyone, and cars are left unlocked. So one day, I come out of the post office, walk to the green Subaru parked in front, open the front door -- and realize, NO DOG IN THE BACK SEAT! I freak out instantly, run up and down the sidewalk, shouting, when another woman comes out of the post office, climbs into the green Subaru, and drives off. MY identical green Subaru was actually parked several slots down, and Bertie Wooster's face was squashed against the window, ears twitching back and forth, silently watching me make a fool of myself. You'd think I would have noticed how much cleaner the other Subaru was....no nose schmutz on the windows, drool stains on the door, or muddy paw prints on the seat.... but boy, my heart literally stopped for a minute.
Yes, I've misplaced both the dogs on different occasions. When you realize their missing your heart kinda drops.

When we lived with my parents, the dogs were to stay downstairs. Mostly because of my parent's leather furniture. We built a area in the basement for our dogs, our "apartment." Trunks found every opening possible to escape, so the time he went "missing" I was sure he was upstairs or out in the unfinished part of the basement eating nails. I called him, John called him, no Trunks. Then we hear a pathetic whimper, he was in the laundry room. He had followed John and wasn't noticed. He got lots of hugs.

Pandora went missing one day when she followed me out to the breezeway. I didn't notice and closed the door behind me. She was out there for quite a while. She doesn't really bark, so it took us a while to figure out where she was. She was quite indignant when I let her in. I got quite the sniff as she trotted into the house.
I would come home when Ludo was a puppy and he was nowhere to be found... After calling and calling for about 10 minutes I would be so worried I was almost ready to cry. Then I remembered my cats liked to hide under the kitchen counter in the cabinets. Sure enough, I'd look and there would be Ludo, sitting on the SECOND shelf just looking at me with these pitiful eyes, lol! After about the third time of that I would check there first everytime he went missing. He has since gotten too grown up to fit under there thank goodness, but it was a trip! lol
This happened this weekend at my mother's house - after a few minutes of calling her name, she and my mother's cat came casually strolling out of the bathroom. Where they had been helping each other unroll the toilet paper.
That is too funny! Partners in crime.
So happy you found your misplaced baby! I sure wish I could find my Bear. He is missed every day. My boyfriend is even getting cranky about me missing him so much. I have gotten another male for under my desk but there will always be room for Bear!
It makes your heart get stupid if you think you lost them.

The other day at the park, I got distracted for a couple minutes by a pair of beautiful great danes that had just arrived and all of a sudden I say "Where's the corgi?" And then I see her all the way on the other side of the park with a little girl and her dad. She loves kids more than people or other dogs! She came to me when I called her name, so we're making progress.
ha! we've gone through some of the same things. I've misplaced spencer a few times. but now i've figured out he's either under the couch or under the bed.
I had a scare a while back with Leo. We had put up a temporary pen for him while the fence was being built so he could still go outside and play. The pen was sturdy enough but I was worried that it wouldn't be and that Leo would get out somehow. I took a shower and when I got out Leo was not in his usual spot waiting for me. I right away checked the yard and could not see him. I called his name a few times and no response. Panic began to set in. I ran to get my shoes on and as I headed out the back door there he was. He must have been behind the fence panels and too interested in whatever he was doing to answer when I called him. I was so relieved. Horrible things ran through my mind when I thought he might have gotten out or been taken. Since this happened he and I are working on coming when called to reinforce his earlier training. He does have a mind of his own...little scamp.
Yes, we have had her exactly 8 days....hubby goes to the freezer in the garage to get out turkey burgers. Then we can't find her....any where inside outside under chairs, sofa, bushes in the back yard. I am so near tears it is not funny...until I open the door to the garage and lo and behold there she sits looking at us with a look on her face saying "and these are my parents, thanks a lot"! Then for the longest time she totally ignores dad, won't even look at him, that's my girl!
This happened to me yesterday. I came home from work and went in through the front door. Somehow, Charlie got out the door as I was going through the mail and my husband greeted Griffey. We walked into the family room, and then heard scratching at the front door. I looked at my husband and he opened the door and let Charlie back inside! Had it been Griffey outside, he would have ran down to the neighbors with the two yellow Labs!

Charlie will also get himself trapped in the guest bathroom. He doesn't scratch or whine. He just sits there until someone lets him out...

Oh! And when my father was still with us, I had to post reminders all over the garage to make sure he kept an eye on the dogs. The neighbor with the 2 Labs told us that one day he saw Griffey and Charlie walking down the street, took them home through the open garage door and let them in to the house. My father was snoozing in his recliner!
