Ok, so it's only been a year since I was last through the whole puppy phase but this just seems odd to me. Heres the deal: The breeder we got Nora from had her out in a run with wood chips and no access to grass. So she went wherever whenever. After taking her home and constant monitoring we've gotten her to eliminate on a tye-out cord. She has no interest in going potty on a leash. Today I took her to the vet clinic that I work at and i've been keeping her in a kennel. She slept most of the day and didnt make a single mess. I let her and cooper run around in our fenced in yard for 30minutes and she didnt do anything besides sniff around. I took her home this evening and hooked her up outside where she immediately peed and pooped. She held her bowls all day long only to come home to her own yard. Now this isnt a complete bad thing but the problem is is that once we start obedience/agility classes Im wondering if she'll go the bathroom elsewhere besides her yard???

I think the girls are fussier about their potty habits. Sparty prefers to go when we are on a walk and recently Izzy has been trying to do the same. He will just go anywhere but she seems to need the perfect place. Because we travel a lot with the dogs(camping) we say "go potty" when they go and eventually they will go on command. Sparty (age 10) is very good about it. Izzy (2) is not as consistent. She may go through a few different stages before she matures. At least she didn't go inside!
Didi is kind of the same way. If she really needs to go she'll go ahead and go on some other grass, but I've gone around all day with her, and then to obedience, and tehn to the dog park and she's held it all the way till we got home in the evening.
