Are loose stools normal for a young corgi???

I just adopted a corgi mix a few days ago. Soon after getting him he started coughing (kennel cough) and had immediate diarhia. He has had it the last 3 days. The soonest the vet can see me is Tuesday, but they assured me that loose bowles is normal in puppies... But my first baby never had this issue.
Do you know if this is because of the kennel cough?
Does anyone have any advise for me?
I take him out every hour to use the bathroom, but he only seems to get sick on my carpets : (
The vet didn't seem surprised but should I be worried?

What kind of environment did he come from? Has he had any vaccines? Did he come from an outdoor environment with lots of dogs? All of these things could give you more of a clue of what may be ailing him. If he is bright and alert and still eating he will probably be fine. If he is lethargic, running a tempurature and not eating I would think a trip to the er would be in order. A pup can fail quickly if they are dehydrated. Try giving him a bland diet of chicken and rice. Make sure no skin is on the chicken. Boil it to remove most of the fat which would contribute to the diarrhea. Let us know how Morgan does.

Most of his life is a mistery. He was dropped off at a shelter down south, and I believe he was up to be euthenized (for no reason other than there were too many dogs) and the rescue group took him in. He was shipped up north to be adopted. I filled out the application while he was still down south, he was with the foster mother for a few days and now he is with me. I will give the chicken and rice a try. He has had all his shots for his age, next round is a little over a month away. I have no idea who he was living down south, but when I got him he was in serious need of a bath and some TLC.

Coccidiosis is a common cause of diarrhea in puppies, and can range from mlld to serious. We got our puppy from a reputable breeder, and her kennels and the home environment where the pups lived with mom were spotless. When we took our stool sample to the vet when we brought the dog home, though, he was infected (though not symptomatic); our vet said it is fairly common even in good kennels, and certainly your pup did not come from a good environment.

However there are countless other causes, both infectious and environmental. Changes in food and water alone are enough to set off many puppies. I agree that if puppy is active and eating and drinking, and not feverish, a few days wait will be ok. However, dehydration in puppies (as in young children) can be deadly, so watch for signs of it and if so, a trip to the emergency vet may be warranted. Either way, bring fresh stool samples.

corgis are pretty notorious for having sensitive tummies. ein will get the puppy runs every now and then, especially when he eats one too many treats or is nervous. i've heard its common among puppies of all breeds to have loose stools now and then but they shouldn't last too long. about 2 weeks ago ein had the poops when we took him to a beach house for vacation. for the 1st 24 hours or so he had loose stools but we attributed it to him being nervous about his new surroundings and that he had been a little car sick from the ride there. it cleared up quick as he gained more confidence around the house :)
