After a very long walk, Yogi started limping occasionally, especially after he sits down, or takes a nap. That has been going for over 3 months. We went to the doctor, and they gave him some type of antibiotics, which made him have a bad diarrhea. They also suggested massaging his hind legs, and some type of orthopedic therapy. We didn't try any of the doctor's suggestion after the pills did not work at all. We heard somewhere about this supplement called "Recovery SA" which is also taken by human (in the form of a pill). We were skeptical, but we went ahead and bought a bottle of Recovery SA and also some salmon oil for his dinner every night. We've been giving him the supplement and salmon oil for about a month or so, and we just noticed recently that he is more agile and his limp has completely disappeared. He likes to jump more and walk more now that he's not hurting anymore. We thought we should share this with you if anyone else is having the same problem....oh we also put him on a bit of a diet (mainly we thought he might've been limping because he was overweight).

Glad your felling better Yogi! The salmon oil probably helps your coat too!
Thanks jane...yes his coat is very shiny now, he sparkles! =)
That's good news about Yogi!

We give Soffie and Griffyn Cosequin DS, it is a gluecosomine and chondroitin for dogs. It was recommended for Soffie, after her torn ligament injury. She takes 1 tablet twice a day. And Griffyn takes 1 tablet a day, just for good measure.

Being overweight is definitely one of the most detrimental things for a Corgi's well being. So getting Yogi to his optimum weight will definitely help too!!
That's great!! Hopefully Soffie is better now, and hopefully Griffyn is even healthier.

It's a bit difficult for us to feed pills to yogi and abby....took us a good half hour to get them to eat the antibiotics...So when we found the powder form of "recovery", we were glad. We just put it on his food, and he just gobbled everything up.

Thanks for the suggestion with the Cosequin DS...we'll keep in mind if we ever get the same situation as Soffie did.
=)
What did the vet give him antibiotics for?

Finn has an issue the same as what you described. There is a discussion on it somewhere. He one day started limping after running around at the park then it went away. Now and then after activity it will start again and is most prominent when he gets up from a nap. I'm curious as to what your vet thought was the cause of Yogi's limp.

We've been giving Finnigan a joint supplement for about 5 months per our vets instructions. We chose 21st Century K-9 Maximum Joint Formula. It has a lot of good stuff in it.

I recently cut back Finn's food too because while he is not fat by any means, I think he could be a couple pounds lighter and be fine.

I'm glad Yogi is better. Sounds like you did all the right things.
Hi Alice and Fin,

The vet thought it might be some inflammation with his joints, and she felt some knot on yogi's joints, I think. (It was very hard to concentrate on what the vet was saying while holding yogi and trying not to get ambushed by his nails, scratching to get away). He hates vets so much.

With the supplement we got, we met a lady a while back who told us that she recently gave her very old dog that same supplement, and her dog lived even longer than he was supposed to, and she was very surprised. So we thought we should try it. We almost finished our first bottle, and Yogi lost his limps already, but we are going to continue to feed him the supplement.

Haha! Yogi said he's not overweight, he's big-boned. But yeah we thought he should lose some weight because his sister is very skinny, and he looks a bit big when compared next to each other.

Thanks!! Hopefully Fin is much better now!!
