My rescue Corgi has been beset with a lot of health problems but is a lovable and charming little man. The current issue (which is probably related to pemphigus) is that his eye margins get sore, bleed and form crusts. Dr. has him on Tetracycline, Niacinamide Methylprednisone and an antibiotic/steroidal eye ointment. My (other) holistic vet is trying Colostrum.
Anyone else whose Corgi suffers from eye problems?
Update: Vet has done a biopsy which will be back in 3-4 weeks............grrrrrrrrrr. I'm calling tomorrow about starting Joey on azathioprine on an empirical basis until the test results come back........he is slipping quickly and all the Rx so far don't seem to be helping.

My corgi doesn't. But my aunt has a chihuahua that his eyes constantly water. It's like hes constantly crying. Every time you pet him and you come close to his face, you will get eye water on you. It's not sores or anything, just A LOT of liquid. I hope your corgi's eyes get better soon. That has to feel horrible. Give him lost of love from me and Kota.
That sounds like the pemphigus.

Since his pemphigus is poorly controlled, have you considered escalating to a vet university to see if one of the immune specialists can give you a better protocol? General-practice vets are great at most things, and I trust and love mine, but when it comes to the uncommon diseases I run straight to Tufts (or have done UPenn in the past) without looking right or left. The specialists see it twice a week instead of twice in a career, and they are usually much more advanced/aggressive at treating disorders like he's dealing with.
I am scheduled to see my vet in about 10 days. If things aren't better by then I'll ask for a referral to a specialist......might be in Colorado Springs where I live or at Colorado State University, which is our vet med school. Thanks for the suggestion.
