My puppy Goldie is VERY smart she learnt sit in under 2 mins! But I m having trouble making her focus and shake. At a time of the day i will go to the cupboard and get treats out.So i can teach her. But once she knows there is treats she wont focus! I lift up her paw and say "Shake" and she doesn't care! Sometimes she lies down! So i stopped the treats business and started patting!!! But she still hasn't learnt its been a week now! SOMEONE PLZ! Help?

Will she sit on command? That is the first thing we taught and then went to taking the paw and saying shake. As soon as she lifts her paw even a little quickly say Good or Ok (using a happy tone). If she does the wrong thing say no and start over. However first you need to have the sit command down. We make ours sit before feeding so they learned it really quick.
I agree, sit is a must if you are going to teach shake. We first taught sit, then shake, stay, down and so on.
Kaly & Toby,

We did it on wood tiles in our house and then on the carpet. But she still refuses too lift up her paw
she knows sit already
Just consistently say shake and take her paw. Do you hold your hand out down low? That will help. Reward any effort to shake including when she just shifts her weight to make it easier for you to take her paw.
Did you try doing it the way I mentioned earlier in the discussion yet? It worked so quickly for Finn as well as my Mom's dog I just want to know if it works for her.
yep it did work! she has now learnt thanks for everyones help!
Good for you! What a smart girl, now on the next trick. :)
