Just a question to see what everyone else has going on with their little furry butts. My first corgi Pooh was so protective that NO ONE was allowed to touch me. NO ONE! if they even so much as poked me, he was in between us barking and freaking out and trying to push the person away. He didn't like anyone touching in general. If my friend hugged her boyfriend in front of him, he would let them know that was NOT acceptable! He would not get as bad with anyone as he did with me and it was frustrating. And running to do something? Forget it! I was going down to the ground for sure by him catching my leg just right with his butt and showering me with kisses. I could not even look out the blinds without him thinking that meant someone was coming and him barking for 10 minutes. Now Copper on the other hand is starting to get like this. He doesn't like when I give my boyfriend a kiss. He will whine a little bit and come in between us. He doesn't like when we cuddle. He will crawl on top of us both and try to weasel his way in the middle and if we play fight? He's trying to get up on the bed and being very vocal about the fact he doesn't like what's going on and that's that! Someone mentioned how their vet said corgis are vicious. I don't know about all that. I think that corgis are REALLY protective of their people. Does anyone have OVERPROTECTIVE corgis?

It is more like he is being bossy. He wants everyone to know you are his. Sparty has a tendency to do this but I discourage it. He is supposed to be mine not the otherway around. The Dog Whisperer does a lot of shows on this. You really need to make it clear that this is unwanted behavior no matter how cute it seems now. Sparty gets a firm no and if he continues a time out so he rarely does it anymore but we went through a stage where he got into it. Unfortunately it can progress into a serious problem. Copper sounds like a real character which is one of my favorite things about my Sparty but good obedience classes helped me end up with a really fun dog instead of a problem.
Pooh definitely knew who was boss as I was THE only one he listened to. I do want to thank you for your comment and the advice. But, Copper can't be getting it from Pooh because Pooh died last February and I got Copper last November. I think Pooh's deal was he thought someone was hurting me. If I even said ouch he was at my side. I think the over-protectiveness is just a corgi thing. Otherwise, I have no idea! lol
