Build your own hybrid, the good, the bad, the Corspangle

I love my corgi. She's an amazing dog that took some getting used to. Mostly because she came too soon (10 days) after the death of my best dog ever, a beagle. But I love beagle personalities. And I also love spaniel lovey-dovey "let me please you PLEEEEZ! personalities. Which is why I have more than one breed of dog. Corgi doesn't cuddle, spaniel does. Beagle follows me, eventually, from room to room to quietly stay at my feet, but refuses to get too excited about what I want.

It's not a yes/no, up/down question. One dog can't do it all.

Oh, no! I just gave the recipe for a designer dog! Don't tell anyone! It would be a sycophantic bully who doesn't obey, but makes lots and lots of noise. And sheds a lot. The Corspangle!

I wrote the above in another thread, but it occurs to me that it could be fun to create our own favorites gone wrong, ala Dr. Frankenstein.  With the very best of intentions ;) what's the worst that could happen with your very favorite breeds?

Huh never thought of this... Though in real life I wouldn't want to mish-mash perfectly good breeds lol. In fantasy world...

I would take the goofy personality and drive of a husky (plus the fun way they "talk").... mix it with the faithful and loving personality of the english lab.. and add it to the fun quirky/working personality of the corgi.

so I would have a psycho-mental-loving-wantingtolearn-wantstoexplore/runaway-eateverything-nevershuttup-dog. LOL

this doesn't sound so good after all!!! hmm should rethink this....
I would take Corgi's intelligence and zest for life, Chow's keen sense of proprietorship over its home and independence, Huskie's athletic built and goofiness, and Akita's sense of loyalty. Oh, may be a dash of Poodle's ability not to shed!
I think I would have to have a Set-a-corg. Irish Setters are my all time favorites but I don't want a hunting dog out where we live as they want to roam and I don't want to kennel them BUT if I could have the Setter with the loyal corgi...that would be wonderful...in my fantasy world of coarse! Hey...just thought of it...they wouldn't have to change colors!
I love that you thought of this. AS it sounds like a good idea when I think about it, I would love to mix the intelligence and loyalty of a German Shepherd, the intelligence and character of a corgi and the sweet loving charcter of a lab. I'm sue that this would turn into a dog that would outsmart me on a regular basis, love to run, swim, make a mess, chew things and make noise all the times! Sheplaborgi? shep-la-borgi? Corglerman? lol I dunno but I bet that would be trouble waiting to happen.
I just saw the funniest-looking mix the other day. Look at her head, she's definitely a pit bull. Look at her body, she's a small basset hound. The tag on her kennel says pit bull/corgi mix (oh, what a challenge that would be!) But think of how useful this mix could be. The perfect dog for the single girl. Just put her in your car with you. From the outside, it looks like you're riding around with a pit bull buddy. Don't mess with me! But when you get home you have a mellow basset hound to live with.

Nice to imagine, but the sad truth is that she is one scared little girl. Just shakes when you go in to see her. I hope she finds a home with someone who is looking for something more than a visual joke.
