Hello everyone!  And thanks in advance.

To preface we have never had any problems with Tuesday and nipping/biting.  She just wasn't that kind of dog.  We rescued her when she was 2 and she has just turned 3.  We have had a lot of changes the last few months.  We've moved to a different town, to an apartment, and we have a lot more guests over now.

The problem is Tuesday has started nipping and biting at people who come over and she's not overly fond of.  The first time it happened, my sister-in-law was coming over to me on the floor to give me a hug.  Tues nipped her elbow.  The second time my brother-in-law moved his foot quickly and it got nipped, and the third and last time a friend went to get up quickly and got a bite on the leg.  I wouldn't call that one a nip.

I know this has to stop immediately but I'm not sure what to do.  I have been saying "NO" and putting her on the balcony with the door closed.  But I need a better plan

She is very protective of me. She keeps an eye on me at all times and knows when I'm having a bad day. That could be it.
My older tri color does the same thing. He's very protective of me and will sit by my side when we have guesses over. He as nip both my sister and brother in law when they have accidentally stepped to close to me. I believe they're just thinking their protecting us. I would try to be aware of whats happening around you and make sure you have him under control. Try to reassure him that your guesses are not going to harm you and correct him when he starts to go into a protective mode. Mine will show his teeth and that when I will correct him.
I don't call that protection, that is thinking they own you rather than the other way around. They are perfectly capable of seeing that the other people mean you no harm. I would google Nothing In LIfe Is Free and follow the simple steps until the balance of power is restored. Do this before something really bad happens please!
Thanks so much everyone. I know this isn't acceptable behaviour, but I also know I'm the one who needs to stop it. The NILF is a great idea, and I think crating will help her feel safe.
