I live in Buffalo, NY and I've been searching all over for breeders in NY and a lot of the websites seem like they haven't been updated in years. I'm just looking for some websites that I can go to, to check out some breeders.. local to my area if possible, if not I'd need a breeder that has an option for transportation. Thank you SO much!

Hi Megan,
I'm from Jamestown, NY and I found a wonderful breeder in East Rochester. Her name is Martha Ihrman. She's a member of the Pembroke Welsh Corgi Club of America, and she's been a "corgi" person for many years. She doesn't breed often, but can put you in contact with other reputable breeders, in our imediate area. She's very knowledgable, and will talk with you for hours, if it means helping you to be more knowledgable about the breed. I've talked to quite a few breedeers in our area (within 5 hrs driving distance), and the overall opinion of them is if you want a good quality dog, from a good quality breeder, the breeder shouldn't need a website to "advertise." Most that I've talked to, around here, are strongly based by word of mouth. Because they're very careful and thorough about not just anyone getting their puppies. They want good quality homes, and even go so far as wanting pic's of you're backyard, and stuff like that. Some may say it's a little much, but I don't think so, it made me way more at ease about the whole process. Also, many don't like to ship their dogs, so you'd have to pick one within driving distance for you. If you'd like more info, let me know.
Thanks! I work at PetSmart and I talk to every customer I see who have corgi's and honestly, most aren't very helpful and sadly, most of the people I know don't even know what a corgi even is.. So I wasn't sure how else to get a hold of a breeder. I have no problem driving as long as it's not in Florida or anything. But if you find numbers or email address for breeders let me know because so far I don't have much lol. Thank you so much!
Hi Megan, there are a few members who live in that region, do a search and ask around. Good luck!
Hi Megan. I'm in PA and of the breeders listed in my region on the PWCCA website, only one or two have their own websites. The breeder we used does not have a site, and she has litters regularly. It would be far for you, though; Buffalo is 5 hours from me and my breeder was another 2 hours further south.

A good place to start is http://www.pwcca.org/memberlist.cfm

Choose your state. There are quite a few New York breeders, many of whom seem to be upstate.
Hello Megan. We found our breeder on line, Wendt Worth Cogris. She was not "advertising" I found her just by doing what you are searching. It gave me a chance to see her dogs not just posed for pictures but with the family playing, resting etc. I then did a through check, called the vet listed at a time when I knew they would be closed and then called back the next morning to talk with them. She spent hours on the phone with me before and after we got Sami. I don't think of her as our breeder anymore but as a very dear friend. We are so happy with our Sami that this year we are taking our vacation in order to meet them all and get a second pup from her. It will be over 3,000 miles round trip and worth every inch of the way. So best of luck finding the right breeder with the right pup for you. Keep us posted on how your hunt is going.
Hi Megan,

I'm from Boston and I actually drove 4 hours into Cobbleskill, NY for Killian. The breeders name was Patty Mare and she has a litter available right now I think. She has a (poorly updated) website under the name "Vaccarella Acres" - but loves her dogs and is definitely a "corgi" person. If you need more info let me know and good luck!
Hi Megan,

I am also from the Buffalo area. I wish I had more info to give you on where we got our corgis, but we purchased Algy 12 years ago not from a breeder, but from a woman who decided to have a litter. Our newest corgis we went out of state for - Minnesota - so I don't think that would be much help. I have heard there are breeders in the Rochester area. I just wanted to say good luck on your search! And don't give up! Corgis are totally worth it!! Maybe in the meantime, we can visit you at Petsmart. :)
Yes, our Joanna went to our Jane all the way to MN.
It's very normal for websites to be updated very seldom - dog breeders are not a very tech-savvy lot, and most of them had their son or cousin set up a site and have little or no ability to edit it. You just have to drop people an e-mail.

Please start your search with the parent club (PWCCA) or one of the more local clubs. Be very, very cautious of any website that is obviously there to sell puppies. Good breeder websites are showcases for the accomplishments of their adult dogs (which should be obvious and considerable), not ways to sell puppies.
I live in Pittsburgh, PA and my fiancé's dad is a breeder if English bulldogs and corgis, he has separate sites for both dogs. They are AKC members. If you like you can PM me for his info because his websites are under construction. I'm sure I can ask him some breeders too if you'd like near you. Feel free to PM me for his info. :)
