Anyone else's corgis ever had total brain overloads and just had to sleep it off? We had a baby shower at our house today and they were taking naps wen people started arriving so they definitely couldn't have been to tired. For the first few people we had the normal meet and greet attitude then when there were 25 people in the same room it was like there was a total sensory overload and they just had to turn off their brains. They slept for hours through the baby shower with people stepping over them and food dropping on the floor that they ignored and slept though. I moved them to the corner so they wouldn't be tripping hazards and they just stayed there. Then when everyone was gone they woke up and were super full of energy and we had to go to the dog park and use all the energy. Maybe it's because they're still puppies. Has this happened to your dogs?

On another note, is over 17 pounds big for a 4 month old corgi? When people see Laika and Orion together at the dog park they think all are surprised that he's only a little over a month older. He's a little over 17 pounds and she's a little over 8 pounds. He was 13 pounds at three months

Your post made me giggle. :) This happens to Edison after he's had a busy day full of people and attention. He's never fallen asleep while people are still around, but as soon as the last guest is gone, *fwump* we have a fur rug where our corgi was a moment ago. Dogs are predators and are supposed to sleep ~17 hours a day, which is probably why this happens- though yours are puppies on top of that- human babies can be very similar!

As for Orion's weight, I don't think he's outside of the norm- if anything, I'd say Laika's a bit underweight. Check with a vet if there are other problem signs, but it's probably just an unevenness of growth spurts.
Haha yeah, when I moved them to their bed they were totally floppy and didn't even wake up. Everyone was very amused by their sleepiness.

Laika is very healthy looking, she has a good sized waist line and you definitely cannot see her ribs when wet. Maybe she'll just be a little corgi? Or maybe she'll have a growth spurt. She was really sick at 10 weeks and had severe diarrhea and a 104.5 fever so I wonder if that slowed her growth down a little. Also, Orion has allll this loose skin. Like you can grab handfuls of it, it's really funny, so I'm thinking maybe he'll grow into it and be a big dog? I heard if you double the weight at 4 months, that'll be the adult weight. Or 2.5 times the weight at 3 months. So with those calculations that would set Laika at 20 pounds and Orion 34! Haha, I'm sure its not very accurate though
Last winter Guinness got up to about 35 pounds. He was definitely chubby, but it's not unheard of in a corgi, and he's on the small side for a male. But he's now down to about 30, and looks good to me, though our vet said he should be about 23. That seems awfully skinny to me. He was very sick for a while and was only about 17 pounds at a year old, and he was scrawny.

And both of mine go into overload at times, Finn more than Guinness right now, since he's only 12 weeks. He'll flop down and pass out wherever he feels like it, generally in the middle of the kitchen floor.
Yes, its always in the most inconvenient places. Like the center of a hallway or across the floor of a doorway or, as you said, right in the middle of the kitchen floor. Laika lays with her back legs out and her front legs at bizarre angles so it looks like someone just chucked her on the floor and that's how it landed. Its so funny to see her passed out like that, or half hanging off their bed
LOL Finn does that too. He looks broken.
haha! Love the brain overload stories! Porter gets it sometimes, when our house cats decide to gang up on him and play hide and seek around and under furniture... he can handle on cat at a time, but put two in a room working as a team and he doesn't know who to herd where! After a while, he sometimes will "put himself to bed" (he still has an x-pen he sleeps in at night, he is 18 months old).

Concerning weight - I would double check with your breeder or vet. Porter was 26lbs at a year but both his breeder and vet said he weight was perfect, he is a large boned boy (and fluffy so he looks bigger!).
I love the brain overload! sonny does that, but I think he is just lazy, and he would never ever let any food drop around him! Lucky drops down anywhere, but that is because he gets tired of sealwalking. They must be the cutest pair. Being the visual person that I am, I had a great laugh, thinking about the 2 of them crashed out in the middle of the shower, having to be moved so people would not trip over them.

Odie used to put himself in his crate when he had had enough of the cats (3) or of Lucky chasing him around (when he could chase) It's always nice to have a place to go when you need it!

As far as size, cannot remember what Odie was at 4 months, should have kept a baby book!
