I've been giving Mia Orijen Puppy food since day one. She seemed fine at first. My family likes to buy her many different treats (different brands of treats). On some days she is fine and on others, her number 2 comes out VERY soft (almost impossible to pick up). I was wondering if it's the different treats that are causing this? And if so, how can I know which treats her tummy doesn't agree with?

Thank you for you help :)

Hi Viola! Yes, different treats can cause upset stomach. My Mocha cannot tolerate "beggin strips". To eliminate the cause, you'll need to feed only one kind of treat / day, them check Mia's poop the next day for consistency. If it's not the right texture, size and moisture, then you've found the problem :)
I would try eliminating all treats (you can use kibble instead) for about one week to see if the problem clears up. If it does, treats are the likely suspect. If not, you know to look elsewhere. If no treats = firm poops, then introduce treats one type at a try. Give each a 5-7 day trial before adding another. Sometimes foods tolerated in low doses become problematic if the doses are higher. For example, I'm lactose intolerant and I can handle a little milk in my coffee, but not a bowl of ice cream.

Then, any time you want to try new treats, only try one new type at a time.

Jack was having issues with loose stools on walks. I did the treat elimination thing, thinking it was treats, but he didn't really improve. I changed foods and presto! problem solved, even though he'd been on the food for some time with no prior problems.
Harley cannot tolerate treats or scraps AT ALL. He will either vomit or have really runny poops. Even all natural treats (nothing with corn, wheat, soy, or by-products) do not settle with him.
Orijen Puppy is grain-free (wonderful!) - most dog treats are nearly entirely grain. Could be the clue ...grain will definitely cause larger, less formed stools (the kind that swell up even more in the rain). I use freeze-dried lamb liver treats - the ones I get are cubed & soft, there are other types that are like 'chips' and I don't get those.
Thank you everyone for all your help! I will stop giving her treats for a few days and see how it goes :)
