Hi all;
I am hoping for some advice. Milly is a corgi/jack russell and she is three. On Friday afternoon we had a great frap session outside and as she was rushing in to bark at the window she slipped on the four stairs to the next floor. She seemed fine. That day my husband and I went away for the night and Milly was home with grandpa and my daughter. Apparently she started having issues going up the stairs Saturday morning. She stands at the bottom and reminds me of her puppy days when she did not know how to go up the stairs. When we came home I examined her legs and paws and nothing seems amiss and there doesn't seem to be any pain. Last night, I turned off all the lights and went to bed, she usually follows but was having trouble with those fours stairs. I went downstairs and brought her to the next landing that has eight stairs and she was just whining so all last night we carried her up, down seems to be less of a problem except for once or twice. This is my dilemma, I went out for a bit today and my daughter was having a snack and Milly apparently followed her upstairs with no problem. We were play fighting upstairs later and Milly usually rushes in for a romp but could not get up the stairs. Later we offered her a cookie and she slowly managed to go up. Now she is by my chair whining again because she wants to go up the four stairs but can't. Is it possible that she is punishing us for going away? I also tried to ignore the behaviour but she looks so confused as to why she can't do this anymore. How come she can go up sometimes and not others? Is she faking? I don't think so but I don't know. Or is there some other issue or injury that I am missing? I am really worried about her. What if she gets stuck on one floor when she is home alone? There doesn't seem to be a problem running because we had a frap session not that long ago. Help, any advice please. I will call the vet if this keeps up for a day or so I think. I think that maybe I should mention that I recently changed her food to Blue Buffalo Wilderness the Salmon formula. I know that the Chicken formula was recalled because of an excess of vitamin D. Could there be a problem with that? Otherwise, everything is the same around here.
